Greetings! I’m looking to find a good replacement for my headlights. I did a simple LED bulb swap a couple years ago and they aren’t as bright as they used to be. I’d like to upgrade assembly and all. I do have the headlight adjuster in the cab.

Great upgrade, I love mine as I drive in the dark a lot. Easy to install with hacker harnesses.

Another vote for OEM LEDs w/ @iHacker harness. Best upgrade for your truck.

I did this. Got the headlights on sale through a dealership last year for 25 percent off and no taxes during one of Toyotas big sales. Add the iHacker harness, I think it was under $500 total. Best upgrade I’ve done so far

Are there any issues using the ihacker harness to upgrade to LED if you’ve already had the halogen headlight recall performed?

What was the halogen headlight recall?

I’d imagine it wouldn’t make a difference since you’d presume recalls generally fix issues they didn’t intend on having(ie now your headlights function properly), but don’t take my word for it…

I don't have them but I might soon. @memario1214 might be able to answer questions on the fit/install/wiring. From the description, it sounds like they're more or less plug and play and come with everything you need, whether you're factory halogen or LED.

Not sure exactly what was done but supposedly there was an issue where the headlight could cause a potential fire if you idled with them on for a long time. Someone else here probably has a better idea of what the actual remedy was

No. My understanding is the recall fixes an wiring overheating concern on newer models (2018+ I believe) that Toyota switched to making the LED lights available. The OEM LED headlights keep the lows on when the brights/hi-beams are engaged. This is fine for the LED assemblies as the current draw is significantly less. It's a problem when the Halogens are used as the current draw is too much for the new "wiring" thingamajig they they did to do the hi/low simultaneously running. Regardless, the risk for damage was only if the the halogen hi beams (and thus the lows too) were on/used for a significant period of time at a standstill. Theoretically things would be cooled off from the wind from driving. :notsure:

Anyone with more than my kindergarten level understanding of electrical systems is free to chime in and/or correct my post. :help:

Cool. I might have them soon too, depending on what @memario1214 says. Looks nearly identical to OEM, but also has a few cool extra features.

The remedy is Toyota cuts into the harness and installs relays.

I have the document from Toyota on my laptop. I would have to look at it again but it was a manufacturing defect in the harness assembly process in one of the facilities in Thailand.

I haven’t regretted any of the lighting upgrades. It can get addicting - you’ve been warned.
