Got the Tundra 5 days ago and declined the Connected Services.

Is this something I can get undeclined myself? By calling Toyota? The salesman told me the key fob remote start would work without subscribing to the connected services. Wrong!

Thanks. I had no idea the trial periods were on the order of 10 years for some of the connected features. Nor did the salesman.

I'll give the SOS button a try.

Geewizard, first three years of connect service are free! no reason not to get them.

Now I know that.....but wasn't informed of such by the salesman. :annoyed:

I hope Toyota will let me reinstate them.

I also declined all that but changed it on the app the next day. Go to subscriptions on the app.

When I added tundra on my toyota owner page (previous ownership) it offered connected services, some free trial, some paid because truck is certified preowned.

I'm cheap, not paying on principle.

But suggest you create account on toyota owners and add your truck there.

Signup will also access the app which has some nice features even without paying.

So....I go push the SOS button and it says connected services are not enabled. The female voice says to call 1-877-201-0287 and speak to a representative.
I call the number and the male voice says this number has been disconnected and is no longer in service.

Went to app as suggested. App says: "You have a Drive Connect capable vehicle which requires you to scan a QR code from the vehicle multimedia screen."

I find no QR code anywhere. I cannot create a new profile. There is only the Guest Profile.

I'm not a newby at apps or computers by any means but this is bullshit from the word go!

If Toyota would stay running after you open door. I would not mind having app.

Can't add vehicle in the app (I entered the VIN) without scanning the QR code which I cannot find on the multimedia display.

Settings (Gear Icon on the left side of display)
    Scroll down to "Apps"
    Select "Remote Connect"

And I go to the app and it says to scan the QR code!

I do appreciate your, and everyone elses, help on this.

Gotta love Toyota's business model of selling a $50k + truck. Then turning that into a consistent revenue stream from the buyer's subscription to operate hardware already paid for and revenue from then collecting, packaging, and selling that buyer's day to day info to 3rd parties.

    It's pretty sweet.

Honestly this seems to be the way everyone is going…not sure there is a manufacturer out there that’s not trying to nickel and dime us at some level.

Sadly its a common business model on lots of things.... Get them subscribed and always make money vs a one shot deal.

Well, as said, almost everything is going this way. For example, I’ve used Quicken for tracking my finances for decades and switched from Windows to Mac earlier this year so I had to get a new version of Quicken for Mac OS. The original Windows version was a buy once, pay once app, and I found you can’t get it that way anymore. I have to pay annually. Not happy about that but I have so many years of my finances in Quicken it wouldn’t be easy to switch to something else. I tried a couple of the free apps but the conversion sucks and loses many functions. Even the Mac version doesn’t work as well. Signs of the times…..

I just read through these posts and had a similar experience. Before I left Toyota dealership my salesmen was helping me transfer the connected services from the original owner to me. After he cleared the prior owner data, the new owner screen opened and provided the QR code on the screen. i scanned with my phone that had the app and that was as far as we could get. It kept asking for the QR code but we couldn't get it to reappear. We had to get ahold of a corporate support person who had to manually add my info in the corporate database and reset the account before the connected services could be activated. They then walked us through what to do in the truck so you may want to call from your truck. Hope this helps if you are still trying to figure it out.

I had a very positive call with Toyota Connected Services this morning and got my trial subscriptions all restored. The person on the phone did a really good job of guiding me through the setup. The Toyota database was updated as well. I really didn't want to go back to the dealer to do this and I didn't have to.

What's interesting is that I had to shut off the truck AND open and close the driver door as part of the setup! I would have run around the truck three times if that's what it took.....

So, I'm all set. Thanks to everyone on this thread for your help.

    Glad you got it resolved.

I'm getting emails every few days and just got 4th or 5th snail mail reminding me to signup for trials ... but I have called and was told only for new, not for my certified preowned (despite what says on certified website). Heck, they could give it to me for what they're spending on fancy brochures and postage :)
