Bought my 315/70/17 on Amazon. They’re Cooper AT3 XLTs. $315 with 5% off Amazon credit card (so $300 each). Was considering Nitto ridge grapplers but trying to keep some MPGs.

Discount tire had 35” Goodyear durtracs for $344

If you like or are okay with the stock rims, then there is no reason to replace them. A level or small lift with bigger tires will look great. Typically one size up on width and one size up on sidewall is all you need. Going bigger than that is okay, but your speedometer error gets significant.

Ok I have to admit this one... I never checked Amazon for tire prices. Good to know!

These days, ya gotta check everywhere. eBay, discount tire, Amazon. I was actually surprised Amazon had the lowest

That looks great! Those are the perfect size for the 3rd gen I think. Bigger and more aggressive but not overdone into performance penalty territory. Are you likin the wild peaks?

Just picked up a 2023 “SR” with 18” styled steel wheels. Anybody know if the steel oem wheels are lighter or heavier than 18” oem aluminum wheels?

Going to replace the stockers soon and from personal experience, I prefer to keep it light (relatively speaking).

I also looked for oem wheel weight info/chart and couldn’t find one. If there is info posted, please direct me to it.

No sure on weight differences but you’ll probably need new set of TPMS. Usually steel wheels TPMS is different from aluminum wheels.

So much fantastic information on this thread, and yet I still can't decide what to do! I have a '22 SR5 TRD Off Road, and I'll be putting quite a lot of towing miles on it over the next few years. Therefore I'm thinking I may either keep my tire size stock (265/70R18) or go with a set of 275/70R18's at the most. I really dislike the look of the stock Michelins, but at the same time I'm concerned about weight and MPG for towing. Two questions, both very boring, and therefore I apologize in advance. But did anyone out there simply replace their stock tires with a more aggressive option in the same size? I did that on my 2018 Tacoma (KO2's) and I was content, but I just don't know if I'd feel the same way with this Tundra. Second question, I don't see much discussion on the spare tire, but am I safe to assume that ANY increase in tire size means I should also buy the fifth tire of equal size for my spare?

    Lots of stuff!
I took my stock Michelins off and put some Toyo AT3's on, I am going to be towing with this truck but also have to use it for work. I didn't try the Michelins in the snow as they didn't inspire me. The Toyos have nice deep lugs and a 3 peak rating. The increased size also seems to suite my truck rather than the little stock set that came with it. I am sure that any tire from a tire shop will be an improvement over the OE ones.

IMHO you can't beat the quality of Michelins. The best tire you can buy for a Semi truck(I'm a truck driver) Sucks they don't have the aggressive look you're probably looking for. With that being said if you're going to be towing, I'd stick with stock tire size or at least match the diameter with a smaller wheel/larger tire package or vis versa. If you go larger get a matching diameter spare, manly for if you get a flat while towing(I don't think a matching spare is that important if you're just trying to get to a tire shop without a trailer on)

MPG WILL 100% be effected by a bigger tire and towing will only magnify it.

Ya I looked on mine and couldn't find the symbol anywhere. They come up as all seasons on some web searches. I did notice that the tread depth was about half of the Toyo's. I think they are like a starter tire. I am sure that these lighter tires have something to do with the MPG rating. Anything else will be heavier and lower the rating. Just my speculation and I could be wrong.

There was a thread about the OE tires that come on the Pro's being lighter on the treads compared to the same tire at a tire shop. I think the poster said that about an inch of snow on the ground and he slid through a stop. This brought up the very enlightening comparison between the OE and aftermarket Falken's

Been trying to find the OEM black lugs and can't seem to find any.

I did find aftermarket black oem-style ones that would fit the OEM Platinum wheels, but not sure if I want to pull the plug on them.

Damn I’m going on a lug nut adventure just to mount Method MR316. The wheels came with a hub ring, did a test fit today and the rings supplied aren’t needed. Lugs I ordered…
M14x1.5 Lug Nuts 14x1.5 Spline Lug Nuts M14 x 1.5 Black 2" Tall Set of 24 pcs 2 Socket Keys 14mmx1.5 Lug Nuts Acorn Aftermarket Wheel Lug Nut https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098TK427G

    Only get 6 turns.

    Then ordered these…
Wheel Accessories Parts Set of 24 Black 14x1.5 Lug Nut Small Diameter 0.31" Shank Length Narrow Extended Thread (ET) Spline Tuner Lug Nuts for Aftermarket Wheels Lug Nut (Black, M14x1.50) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L75GQS3
They fit and get 10 turns but they stick out like hell on the flat center cap of the 316s, so I ordered some SCS lugs. I liked them on my Tacoma bc they had 8 splines rather than the common 6. Discount tire didn’t even have a 8 spline to take off the wheels.

as I’m looking to Get the 316s too, I ordered the hub rings from Amazon 106-95.1, now your wheels came hub centric 95.1? So no hub rings needed.

I bought them on eBay from this seller. I made an offer of $1K but he only took $10 off, so paid $1006

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1653904309...GLwMz1sTdm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Right after buying them from above seller. This seller was offering $242 per wheel. I had them favorited in my cart and the offer came in.

    https://www.ebay.com/ulk/usr/fourwh...27&osub=-1~1&crd=20221224032756&segname=11604

Yes, the wheels came with rings but they don’t fit. They fit fine without any rings. The rings included aren’t labeled with a size.

I want to add that methods are cheap china made junk wheels. I wanted American made KMCs but I gotta save up some for lift and other mods. Maybe later I’ll get some KMCs

I believe that the Method wheels will have a larger hub bore to accommodate more vehicles. So rings will be needed to get them tight on the hub. Some people will run without rings and be close to being centered on the hub. One way to tell is if you experience significant vibration as speed increases then rings should clear that up. I had that happen on another vehicle and it was unbearable at about 40 mph and higher.

My new wheels are 95.1 mm hub bore so I don’t need rings, pretty unusual to find hub centric wheels in aftermarket.

Really glad I ditched the Geolandar X-CVs. They’re great summer tires but no use in Minnesota winter. Trading them in helped quite a bit.

These Cooper AT3 4Ss in 275/60R20 don’t look as aggressive as other ATs but they’re perfectly fine rolling on 1ft of suburban snow (in 2wd).

thats what Im going with, I think they are perfect compromise tire, lighter than most out there as well, only like 6-7 lbs more than stock but larger a little as well.
