I've run the AT III's on my last Tundra and they were an awesome tire. I'm liking this new RT trail and might consider giving them a shop. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

Are they even available yet? I'm only seeing the regular RT on Discount Tire's website.

I had the RT's for 6 years and just switched to the AT3. I got over 65,000 on the RT's but the AT is much better in snow and a smoother ride. Went from a 35x12.5x18 to a 285/75/18. About 10lbs lighter per tire.

The RT Trail is different than the normal RT. The comparison on Toyo's site claims the Trail is a little quieter and better on wet/slippery surfaces than the RT. I'm interested in these if Discount or some of the normal chains get them soon.

I'm looking at the 275/65/20. The RT Trails are only two pounds heavier than the AT IIIs.

FYI, I emailed Discount Tire’s support, and while they didn’t give anything definitive, they said these are likely to be available through them early March.

When I add my new wheels in the spring sometime choice of tires.
    Open country R/T are nice.
Mickey Thompson Baja/boss nice tread also.
All depends if I jump up on size. Been tossing things around for a while. My dilemma is my 285/70/18’s Nitto’s are fine. Not sure if I want to keep them on my Pro wheels for the winter and buy new tires for my new wheels to run spring and summer. Don’t pay me to take them off and sell them. Decisions. LOL.

I put 285/75/17s on a few days ago. Went in to The Truck Shop here in San Diego to get Toyo AT3s and jumped on the R/T trails. They had 1 set remaining out six sets...
So far Im super happy and they look bad ass. Only about 100 street miles so far - ride awesome but so do most new tires. I was running Mickey Thompson ATZs 295/70/17 before- In my opinion the Toyo's are way better out of the gate... Ill post a pic- the cloud is currently full .

Ordered a set in 35x12.50r18! Little concerned about them being a 12 ply, but at the same time they weigh in at 66 lbs per spec sheet. That's under a few big name 10 ply tires so we'll see! Should be on early next week!

Discount Tire now has these listed on their site, AND they’re part of the $110 instant savings deal. Ordered a set of 5 and should have them next week.

I considered the at3 and R/t before my current set. I've got about 10-15k left on them. I'm considering these now, that's a nice looking tread pattern.

Can someone highlight the difference between the AT3 and the RT Trail. It looks like the AT3 has more siping, a less aggressive sidewall and is 10 ply and is rated for more miles. So the RT Trail it looks like is a hybrid mud tire with some road manners.

I'd say that sums it up. The Trail is new so time will tell as far as how many miles they will last. So far I really like the Trails and have no second thoughts on the selection- Feel like A/T's for the most part. I have noticed some mild humming at highway speeds but not bad. Mine are still new but handled great in the rain. Also, they look frick'n killer.

The Trails have a 45k mile tread life warranty across the board and the A/T IIIs have a 50-65k warranty based on size.
So your understanding of the two is likely correct

Just got 2 of my 5 R/T trails in.
    37x12.50R17
They look great with an awesome tread pattern and just slightly less tread depth than my 35 R/T’s

AT3 much better in snow/wet environment and highway.
I think you got it right on the hybrid M/T with road manners for the RT trail.

Mike from LLOD has both. He lives in CO.
He talks about it on his latest video
