Wife and I made our 2nd ever trip to Costco today as new members and I found Kirkland brand synthetic oil in 5w30 for $38 for 10 quarts. I didn't buy it but I am considering it for my next oil change. I thought I remember people mentioning this as good stuff and possibly the same as Mobile 1? Can't be any worse than Wal-Mart brand and good enough for regularly schedules oil changes.

Before the pandemic that oil was $19.99 to $24.99. It's amazing how much the price increased.:(

Ok in doing a little research ppl are saying it is blended by the same company as Mobile1. Not to start another oil argument thread but I still say that even the cheapest synthetic oil is OK if changed regularly. I still like to use qood quality stuff and I am going to try the Kirkland brand. BTW the Kirkland Tequila is good stiff too and the same a Patron.

I use it, it seems to do a good job. I didn't look to hard, but Warren Distribution blends it. You've found that they make mobil1?

I use it too, TMI, but this vid has good info. I think he pits all oils together, but I can't find that vid.

Mobil1 is produced by ExxonMobil and Kirkland brand oil is made by Warren Distribution. Kirkland brand oil is very good oil, do not hesitate to use it.

Crazy, my wife and I also went on our second trip last night. I saw the oil, looked it over. Didn’t get it because I already have 15 quarts in the garage of mobile 1. Did make a mental note of it though.

I've been using Costco or Amazon oil for several years now with no issues at all. Prior to this I'd used Mobil 1 for the last 20 years

I am running it now and I can't tell any difference among that, M1 EP, and TGMO.

If it has an American Petroleum Institute symbol on it that meets the oil spec requirements listed in your owners manual, then it is good to use in your vehicle. If you've ever read the owners manual for any vehicle you would know this.

Any oil you find available at a store like costco will have this symbol. Some oils like a conventional 10w30 wont meet the specs listed in the manual, but i suspect thats mostly due to the oil change interval suggested by toyota. If its a full synthetic oil it should meet the minimum requirement.

The only place i would be wary about buying oil is the wierd off brand stuff you find at a paki gas station for $14.99 a quart.
