Anyone else having issues with their head unit not updating? I know when a version is released it is usually a phased rollout and might take a bit to show up as available.

That said my head unit is still showing version 1020 (v1040 has been out for quite some time, and v1050 was released yesterday). Checking for software updates over the air I get "no updates available". I've even tried updating via USB and the website tells me the same.

EDIT: As pointed out by @ryanwgregg the TSB released yesterday is for MY2023 only. The current version of the head unit software for MY2022 Tundras per T-SB-0023-22 is v1025. My truck is still on v1020 and will not update.

My 2023 built on 1/18 and Delivered to me on 2/10 already had 1050 so its been out for at least a little while before the TSB.

I didn't catch that it was 2023 only when I read it, thanks for correcting me.

I did go to the website and attempted the USB update procedure, downloaded the json file via USB from the truck. The website still tells me the truck HU software is up to date, even though the head unit show v1020 and the TSB shows v1025.

did they change something for the 2023 in that the older ones have an older version? seems odd

Wait what?? Schooled again. I did not know Toyota used multiple vendors for the head unit, I just assumed they were all Panasonic. What other head unit hardware is in the Tundras?

As of today my 23 Plat build date 12.5.22, it has the HU Software version 1050. Not sure when that happened, unless there is no user intervention and it just does it automatically on a long trip like last weekend (3.5hrs).

Interesting. Went and took a look at mine and in the info screen it says it is part number 86100-0C361. Truck is MY2022 SR5 CrewMax TRD OR with 14” screen, non-JBL system. Assuming yours and RLC177 are JBL systems?

I have the same issue. My 22 has software version 1020 and always says 'no update available'. I tried the manual update method using a USB drive but the software version info upload to Toyota's site fails every time and says "Something went wrong. Please try after some time". Tried a few times- re-downloading from the truck, but fails every time.

Same problem I have, except the upload succeeds then says no update available.

Not to hijack this thread, but I am having the same issue. I am able to download the JSON from the Tundra to the USB stick, but when I upload the JSON file to the Toyota server I receive a "Something went wrong" issue.

    Any thoughts on a solution?

I tried using 3 different browsers on both a Mac and PC. Same issue each time. I guess I'll ask the dealer to check for updates next time I have the truck in for service.

This is the 1050, and i have 22 platinum 14" with 1020 on it....is this the right firmware?
Does they system just try to load it without checking if its compatible? Don't want to brick the head unit!

I have a ‘22 Tundra Limited with the non JBL speakers. I just got the update for version 1040 (4/10/23). Does this update resolve issues with the entertainment system? My Bluetooth always disconnects from the system randomly!!! So frustrating !!

Has anyone in Canada gotten an over the air update? My 2022 is running 1020 and it shows no update available in the settings view. I know they can be applied manually, but I would rather they do it OTA. Also, I am not having any issues, so not entirely sure I want it, especially if there are no feature additions.

Well, my 2022 updated this morning, and now "matters are worse."
The update included "Improvements to the Cloud navigation." My number one complaint with the whole "Entertainment system" was that the map always starts in a "non-north up" position and I have to set it every time I get in the vehicle. Annoying, but not disastrous. But now, if I leave the map screen for any reason, when I return it has moved off of the "north up" and back to some other setting. So, I have to hit the little arrow on the far right side of the screen until it is north up again. That seems to make this more dangerous to use, especially in traffic.

And it said updates to voice recognition, that seems to have gone from "I do not understand you" to "That function is not available" (even when I know it is).

    /sigh

Thanks. I filled out the form, hit submit and - it doesn't work. I had tried using this form when I first got the truck, for the original issue and had the same problem. Multiple browsers - and the same response, it doesn't submit.

Well this time I did it in Edge and it worked. Hopefully I will get a response.

I decided to try the manual approach last night to see if an update was actually pending. Popped the USB stick into the truck, did the export and then uploaded to the Toyota Canada equivalent of the site and it told me that I already up to date. So 1020 it is, for a little while at least. Had Toyota downloaded something to my stick, I am still not sure I would have applied it. The old adage...if its not broke....

My unit finally showed an OTA update this weekend. Applied it and the unit now shows version 1040.

Well I received a reply to my request, and it was basically, "We interview and review our systems with many customers and provide them what they want..." I know there is another thread here about how the navigation system not allowing you to fix north up on the map is not good, so they apparently didn't interview any of us. Then they said, "find your options" on page 28 of the warranties owner's manual (the link they supply for this does not work). Looking at the warranty manual, pg 28 is call if you have a question; the owner's manual page 28 is "how to adjust your mirrors" and the Multimedia System page 28 is the correct page, but it simply says to click the north up and it will stay there - which it no longer does.

    /sigh
