Where are you all getting 75W from?

    Hi,

For the transfer case the manual calls for 75W and I would like to stick with recommendation.
It looks like only 2 options available - genuine Toyota for $85/quart or Ravenol from blauparts.com. It's really cheaper to pay a dealer to replace the oil rather then buying oil from them. I have tried ordering from Blauparts , but my orders get cancelled and they are stating that my orders were cancelled for one of the two reasons:

    1. The order may be associated with an unauthorized reseller or affiliate of our products.
    2. A competitive conflict of interest (same industry and products).

Any attempts to speak with a live customer support person are not successful - there is no number to call and all emails are responded with the same rather odd statement

Is there any other source of 75W anywhere?

Ravenol regardless where you buy it from (Amazon or directly from manufacturer) is still shipped by Blauparts.com which keeps cancelling my orders.

I am considering trying Redline 70-75 GL4 for the TC when I hit ~30k miles. The front and rear diffs will get Amsoil severe duty.

I purchased Ravenol from blauparts about a month ago. No issues, quick shipping and, at the time, a few dollars less than Amazern.

So far, the Ravenol seems to be working well with regard to actuation of the transfer case.

I used redline’s LT-MV which is GL4 on my TCase at 65,000 km. Used also redline 75/85w on the diffs at the same time.

I get mine from Toyota. The truck is still worth nearly $50k. I'm not stressing over $150 every 2-4 years for the tcase fluid.

Shop the discounts/sales to drop the price a bit. My local dealership's parts guys tend to throw a nice discount if I purchase all my fluids at one time.

That was my 1st thought. I tried paying via Amazon - the same result. Same BS about "A competitive conflict of interest"

No, my 2017 manual states 75W. There was an analysis posted on this forum about how 75W very different from various 75W-XX

Interesting, mines an 07 so obvious differences— it’s not 75w85?

2007-2013 have a transfer case which calls for 75w85.

2014-2021 have a new, entirely different transfer case which calls for 75w only.

No reason to be cheap on fluids when the truck is worth a small fortune. Buy the correct oil, change it often.

    None....
I just paid 300 bucks to buy the Toyota fluid in the metal cans and crush washers. It was worth it because I know it was really done.

The fluid at 38k was pretty dark and had more metal stuck to the drain plug magnet than I expected. I won't consider doing it again untill after 100k

The manual does not state the change every 30k miles. I linked the owners manual below and at 30k is states to inspect, not replace.

Hahah just trying to help and spread some advice. Change the fluids every 50k miles and they will last forever. I work for a very large construction equipment OEM. We recommend changing final drive fluid (gear case) same as the front and rear diffs every 1000 hours. If you calculate hours to miles, that’s 60,000 miles. Those are far more extreme loads and abuse than a half ton pickup.

Yea I was going to say I have seen dozens and dozens of Trucks go to 200k and never have rear axle fluid changed with no problems. I'm not saying do that but I might wait untill 100k or 150 to do mine again.

    Coolant: 50k or 5yrs. (OEM)

I would agree with some of that, and disagree with others. I disagree with engine oil unless that is conventional, not synthetic. Only 6 months on oil, for some people that is basically a car sitting in the garage over a winter. That is silly to me. Oils have come a “long” way from what they used to be. I look at oil, coolant, and hydraulic samples almost daily and I can tell you they hold up and last much longer than most of us realize. I believe there is another thread about changing diff fluids with samples that proved that they hold up as well.
