Anyone running these on their Tundra? Local tire shop has these options for prices right now (prices are mounted, balanced, alignment, with road hazard).

    Michelin LTX AT/2 - $1077
Michelin Defender LTX MS - $1029.26
    Yokohama Geolandar AT GL15 - $890.38

Being as I need tires, BUT plan on lifting my truck in the next 6 months or so, I'm thinking it's wiser to go with a slightly cheaper tire, and then either sell these, or keep them and use them as needed (if I need to). Although I plan on only a 2" lift, so even with a 2" lift, stock tire sizes won't look stupid if I keep them.

Plus, I mean, $890 for a complete set of tires, mounted/balanced/aligned, with road hazard? Right now that's a steal.

Well, due to the overwhelmingly positive responses, I'm going with them! :D

I've ran the Michelin Defender M/S and absolutely loved them. They wore very well, balanced amazingly and did great on trails.

I was about 90% on street and 10% on trails doing the "overlanding" thing. So no rock crawling or anything like that.

Hands down, Michelins were awesome in the snow and rain...very stable feeling.

Never saw one, but I have Yoko GO15 in a 285/75/18 E. Great tires!

I just got the geolandars a few weeks back ( 275/70/16), mainly because everything was out of stock and Michelin wasn't making them again for 2 months. I do mainly road so was after the Defenders,
seem good in the wet, quiet, snow. In thick heavy mud in my backyard they collect alot between the tread so I wouldn't call them a full off road tire, but they suit me fine, no complaints so far, picked up for about the same price you are getting at after going onto Amazon and getting mavis to price match.

Good deal. Honestly, I would have no issue going with the Michelins I've had on there again; but given that I'll be lifting soon, keeping the price low would be nice; and everything I've seen (including posts here) are leading me to believe what I already thought - that the Yokohamas are a fine tire.

They are good tires. I have had a set on my truck for a few years. I had the previous version for a long time as well, they were in use long after 50k miles. I wouldn't compare them to a mud tire or anything like that but they do well on dirt, snow, rain, sand, and other unusual terrain.

I also have a set of the passenger style on my wifes Element. We've been through a good amount of snow and icy roads, no trouble.

Right (concerning the mud thing). I mean, I live down a pretty nasty 'gravel' (heh) road, but I don't normally go off-roading with my truck, so the only mud I see is when it rains and the gravel road turns to crap. LOL But I figure if the LTX AT2's can handle that, the Geolandars can probably hack it as well for a year or two. Their other tires in the past did fantastic, and I'm glad to hear that they wear well.

Plus, I mean, $890 for a full set, with alignment, 3 tire rotations a year *and* a road hazard warranty isn't at all bad.

You should be fine then. The first set I got, they weren't tires I was looking for but tires I couldn't pass on because of the price. I got them used for very cheap. I got about 70k out of them and I wasn't nice to them. I hardly ever rotated them and they still lasted a long time. I did do quite a few "it rained! Let's drive through mud!" Adventures and never got stuck, but they cake heavily and steering no longer works haha. That's fair.

I eventually replaced them with a more aggressive tire, then a few years later went right back to the Yokos. They won't win any cool points on looks but they win a lot of points for being good tires at a reasonable price.

Well yeah. I feel like that describes most every set of tires I've ever had. LOL Sounds like they'll work great. :)

Been happy with the Yoko G015s. Ran them on the Tundra and liked them enough to put them on the wifes Tahoe.

    * @Kung what's a Yoko GL15?*

It's, uh, a very special tire...

So special that they retired it for the G015.

    ;)

(Guy who told me about it @ the dealership misspoke. LOL I just figured this out.)

Giving you a hard time

Originally bought them because they were offered in the unique size I was shopping for. Got more than I bargained for as they turned out to be a nice tire at a very reasonable price. They got a customer out of me.

I had three sets of Geolanders on my Dodge truck. I really liked the tire. They are great tires for the price. They gave great service and never had issues pulling my boat. Quite a few guys said that they thought the tires looked good and they were going to consider them for their trucks. I thought they looked okay but not as good as my BFG K02s. Good luck.

    I got tired! (Hurr durr.)

Nothing special, but considering I'll likely have them for less than a year, and at $890 installed, balanced, aligned, with 3 free tire rotations a year *and* a road hazard warranty, I think it's a pretty good deal. :)

    Update: They suck. LOL

Seriously though, a bit more in-depth review: They ride nicely, if a bit 'bouncy,' and have overall excellent traction in the snow and mud. Wet traction is pretty decent.

BUT....maneuvering on them is like driving on 4 uparmored marshmallows. I don't exactly drive my truck like Mario Andretti, but with my previous tires (stock Michelin LTX AT/2's), I had no problem taking any corner at all around 50MPH. The treads on these, however, are SUPER soft for some reason. if I have to execute any sudden movements (and I've had to a few times), it's like the truck moves first...and then a few tenths of second later, the tires say "Oh all RIGHT already" and follow the rest of the truck. I thought I was imagining things until I had a coworker check them out and compare them to his own set of the same tires that were about 2 years old. His treads were far more stiff.

I mean, if you literally do nothing other than just drive the truck, they're alright...but I would not want to tow heavy on these. Will more than likely go back to LTX AT/2s, or whatever is next (as a 2" Toytec lift, 18" aftermarket rims and a new set of tires will be on this truck in less than 2 to 3 months).

In the tire's defense, soft equals better road comfort. I just purchased these in 315/70/17 as the Nitto Terra Grapplers were hard as rocks, but were nice and comfy when new, 90,000 miles ago. Side corners were chunking. Glad you mentioned your friend's And mentioned when he got them. Guessing rubber gets harder as it goes through heat cycles. I do remember buying cheap tires which seem hard as rocks from new. My 2cents

You may be right, but they still 'lean' a bit more than the previous tires did and ride a bit mushier due to the softness of the tread. They're not 'terrible' tires at all; just ride differently than previous Geolandars. I myself may be the actual issue - with so many crap roads and gravel roads around, I assume(d) default was a bit stiffer ride, which the LTX AT/2's provided. LOL

I have the GO15 E rated and the tires are beasts in all weather and at speed, my truck is heavy though with much armor. I will likely rinse and repeat when they need to be replaced. Not so cheap anymore, I think they are running around $325 a piece nowadays for a 285/75/18 E.

Well, that kinda seals it for me, honestly. When I bought these, they were like $220 a tire or something. If they're $300+ then that's like anything else out there.

I hear ya, think my set of 5 were around 11-1200 but I had to wait around 4 months for them to arrive. Tires are outrageous nowadays. Even worse what happens when they are done. Billions of them laying around, millions purposely burned in the Middle East desert every year. Just ridiculous, as they can easily make long lasting tires.

My set of 4 were 1044.00(before sales tax) a few weeks ago. They already went up 165.00 for the same set of four. Dodged a bullet
