I'm due for the free oil change here at 12months under ToyotaCare.

I doubt it's possible.. but wondering if anyone ever got the parts (oil & filter) for free, and instead did the service at home by themselves rather than having Toyota use the parts on this free service? I would just prefer to do my own oil change.

Lol, questions are free... Ask your dealer.

    I'm doubt they'll agree though

Haha yeah definitely going to ask when I go. Just curious if it's been done before by anyone.

Personally and due to my driving style I'll be changing it every 5k or 6 months myself at the aggressive/harsh condition OCI per the maintenance manual. I'm also going to do the first OCI at 1k just to get the gunk out from break in. Maybe the 1k oil change is unnecessary but I've done similar on all my new vehicles and motorcycles (usually m/c's get changed even earlier then 1k). It's cheaper then a blown engine and Toyota Care doesn't give you Toyota oil, it's whatever the dealership can find that "meets spec" and is brown and slippery. I also do a lot of short trips and don't drive a ton of mileage on a yearly basis typically since I'm on my bicycle or motorcycles when the weather is nice.

When the Supra came out some owners were successful at this and some were not. That might have been due to the so called Supra tech(s) that dealers needed to have.

You could try, worse they can say is no. I did 1 free and then started doing it my own. I don’t trust the lube techs after what I have found or even before that.

Personally, I wouldn't in ANY WAY tether myself to the dealer. Free oil filter, etc. or not.

with toyota care you get 2 oil changes at 10k miles each. how you use them is up to you AND IF your dealer could care less if you do it at 1k and then 5k, all they know that the first 2 are free in the system.

I was told by my dealer I will continue to get free oil changes and tire rotations for one year or 25k whichever is first, they've done 2 already and doing it at 5k intervals.

what the dealer says and what toyota will reimburse are 2 different things. toyota will only honor oil changes at 10k each up to 25k, which means only 2 oil changes (this was based on the 2nd gen v8 10k interval)

or did they change the turbo to 5k every oil change now?

if so then you get 5 oil changes every 5k up to 25k (just make sure you get the 5th oil change before 25k otherwise toyota wont reimburse the oil change after 25k.

Tundra 2022+ oil changes during complementary maintenence only cover 2 first oil changes. 10k intervals recommended but they'll do first 2 free oil changes at any interval.

yeah thats what i thought. they are still on the 10k interval up to 25k (read only 2 oil changes period)

i know some dealers are lenient and let you use the 2 regardless of mileage but you pay for any after the free 2

    Yep.

I purchased pre-paid maintenance from Jerry, and it starts at 30k miles. Oil changes every 10k miles as per manual regular use service. Air filters, cabin air filter, etc. The only "major" service that it covers is at 40k miles when the spark plugs are due.

But I plan on changing oil every 5k miles, so I'll probably have to pay the dealer extra during the 5k mile checkups/tire rotations to also have them change the oil. They charge like $140 for oil change... :( but it's worth it for me to save time
