    I have a 2005 Toyota tundra double cab SR5 4x4 that I’m working on. I’ve looked on every engine diagram that I can find and I cannot find what these two houses are called. Both hoses have oil seeping out of them slowly. On top of the hoses it has two caps that go over them. I’m trying to find out what they are called so that I can get them ordered and replace it myself. Here’s a couple pictures That I hope can help anybody to identify what this is. The two hoses that I’m trying to identify have red circle around them. They go down towards the bottom of the engine, but I cannot tell if they go into the side of the engine or into the oil pan.

    Interesting. I thought those lines had no particular purpose as I've never seen anything documented about them myself.

    These should be breathers for the front diff and ADD. Did you service either of them recently or add fluid?

    Yup. Breather hoses for your 4WD. Maybe your diff is overfilled?

    I would recommend gently pulling on the metal end of those. They will pull out of the rubber tube they're in. Then you can clean them up really good and put them back. I did this to mine.

    when the t-case engages and starts spinning the the front driveshaft the passenger side axle is disconnected, and the diff can spin freely because its an open diff. The add engages the pass axle so the front diff can do work.

    i'm not positive, but i think the add is there so the tcase can shift on the fly without getting into a bind and when the truck is in 2wd it doesnt waste energy spinning the front driveshaft and diff.

    For me it means I don't have to get out of my truck to lock/unlock fnt differential, I get to use the 2wd/4hi button.

    A.D.D. = Automatic Disconnecting Differential
