Pulled 13k for a dump run. Once the trailer brakes were dialed in it was a breeze. Way more power than past 5.7s and trans seemed to do a great job of keeping it in a good range and no hunting. Don’t plan on doing that often but nice to know it’ll pull.

The 2nd gen pulled the space shuttle, remember?

It's not the pulling that counts.

Is NASA contracting you to pull another shuttle? Go buy a heavy-duty truck if you want to tow over 10k lbs.

However, it did not achieve sufficient velocity for liftoff.

Pulling won't be the problem, Stopping 15k lbs will be.

When people talk about pulling over 12-15k in their Tundras I have to really hold up the red flag.

Absolutely...but only in addition to a glue on bobble head dash ornament.

    This is the way.

It’s extremely dangerous and irresponsible to exceed the tow rating by that much. Your axles can’t handle that much weight, your brakes can’t stop that much weight, there’s myriad reasons why this should not even cross your mind. It could also leave you at risk of both civil and criminal charges if you got into a wreck, even if you weren’t at fault (i.e. if someone turned left in front of you and you t-boned them, their defense would be that you shouldn’t have been on the road and they’ll win). Your insurance might have a clause indicating that they are not responsible if you create a dangerous situation.

Just don’t do it. Put it out of your head. Or get a new truck.

In one of these threads there was a guy who claimed 18,000lbs towing (I think) when someone accidentally overloaded him. He said it towed fine though.

I've been contemplating pulling 15k with my gooseneck, well maybe 13,500. I wouldn't do it without excellent trailer brakes, suspension help, good tongue weight. My 1st gen Tundra's frame is rusty too, so I'd definitely reinforce that 1st, maybe the rear axle too. Weld some additional vertical plate on it like the off road guys... I'd be worried about my transmission, temp guage would be essential, keeping it out of OD. My dump truck gvwr puts me out of class when hooking up my gooseneck/backhoe.
We pulled 17,500lbs with an 89 chevy 1500 when I was younger. Brakes quit working on the trailer and it pushed us sideways down a hill on dry pavement. Crazy days.

A BX23S would've snapped the axles off of that trailer.

Trailer has 7k axles x2 for a total weight capacity of 14k. Trailer is around 2400#, Mini X around 9500#. Adding the BX would still have the trailer at around 13,500# and just below GTWR of 14k. Theory debunked.
