Is there a way to remove the seatbelt chime on a 2021 Tundra? You know that ding ding ding sound when the seatbelt is not buckled.

    Off road use only.

I have a 2022 Tacoma and while having it tuned, the guy was able to turn off the chimer with his computer. Haven't been able to get ahold of him to see if he can do it on the Tundra.

Yes, the next time you are at the dealer tell them you want that feature disabled, and they can do that for you....

Some dealers will tell you they can't or won't due to liability, but that is bullshit; ask to speak to someone like the SVC Manager or take it to another dealer... If they ask tell them you want to be able to pull the seat belt off in parking lots, drive thrus, etc... w/o the stupid thing beeping constantly.

I have a '21 Pro and pages 565-573 of the Owner's Manual is section 8-2 (Customization); within this section is a list of features that can be customized; column 1 is features that can be changed by you in the Multi-Info Display; column 2 is features that can be changed by you in the MultiMedia Sytem; and column 3 is features that can be changed by the dealer.... For me, page 572 has a section on Seat Belt Reminder Buzzer w/dashes in columns 1 and 2, and an 'O' in column 3 which means the buzzer can be customized to an "off" setting by the dealer.

It's a feature of your vehicle, so they should honor it w/o too much grief.

    Good luck!!!

Might not be the easiest way after all. Just ask your dealer to remove it. I had it done when I had the truck in for one of it's first free oil changes, cost nothing

it comes with a free one month subscription. Do what you need to do with it then just cancel the subscription. If you ever need it again the fee is $10/month and you can do the same thing subscribe and cancel

MUCH easier than getting the Techstream to work at home. And less headache than trying to get the local dealer to do it. Mine wanted to charge me an hours labor to do it…f**k that!!!

But to each there own. Goodluck

Yeah I suppose it is worth it. Local Toyota dealer is awful. So bad that I bought from the lower 48 and shipped the truck to Alaska instead of deal with them again

Could use those pet harness clips. Just latch it in when you want it to turn off, take it out when you are back on the street.

Just a use a seatbelt extender. It clips into the button latch portion of the seatbelt. Fools the vehicle that the seatbelt is actually buckled. Can still use the seatbelt as you wish.

For anyone who cares to know:

The audible alarm or tone is actually emitted by the insturment cluster. Reasons why the the tone sounds likes it’s coming from the dash. The “speaker” is in the back of the instrument cluster. It knows (via the communication network) if the seatbelt is buckled or not.

A simple message on the network via the OBD port tells the cluster to no longer make a sound when the seatbelt is unbuckled.

Techstream has the ability to communicate with the truck and send the message. Carista and some others have cloned the message from Techstream and can do it as well.

Its a flew clicks of a button to turn it off. The hard part is getting software and cable that can “talk” to the truck

To add to this you could simply keep a “buckle” in the seatbelt switch to fool it into thinking the belt is on 24/7

OR you could also go underneath the seat and splice the two wires to the buckle switch together. This would also fool the truck into thinking the buckle is in 24/7. I have not tried this and it’s assuming the truck isn’t smart enough to look for this. IE if it sees the seatbelt on 24/7 before startup ect it might throw a trouble code but I doubt it’s that smart to look for that kind of thing.

Additional FYI for the general masses, the sound portion of the notification can be silenced, but the red indicator on the dash cannot (using conventional methods, but, the LED can always be unsoldered if you're so motivated). I think that access to disabling the sound is dependent upon the dash cluster the vehicle is equipped with. I upgraded from my original cluster to one from a Limited and gained access to that specific setting as well as others that required Techstream or some other OBDII device via the cluster.

Is my truck the only one that stops chiming after like 15-20 seconds anyway? After that steady stream of chimes?

My driver side chime is turned off, but I can share that my passenger side behaves this way.

Mine does as well, but if you are in and out of the vehicle a lot, it is nice not to have to listen to it.

there was a few different settings, can’t remember them all

main thing was seat belt chime and light sensitivity of auto headlights for me. Think there was something if you had auto ac, adjusting the dinging volume when key is in ignition and door open, and a couple other little things

I was able to use it on my wife’s pathfinder as well to change some settings. So each car is a little different
