    Hello all,

new guy here and new owner of my first tundra. I have a question I’d like to get other opinions on. What type of oil do you use in your Tundra with high mileage? I have a 2012 tundra crewmax rock warrior package that just hit 150k and oil change is due. Do other tundra owners use full synthetic, synthetic or a high mileage blend 0w-20? I’ve used Castrol in my other vehicles, but do you recommend another brand?

    Thank you!

I’ve always used Mobil1 synthetic and had zero issues. That said it’s more about following the service intervals. I believe all modern oil is fine to use. Also 150k is not high mileage for a Toyota!

I personally use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w-20 Usually the high mileage oil and OEM Toyota Filter. I replace mine every 3k based on high miles and driving style . Currently have 287,000 Miles :)

    A zillion threads on this.
Not sure there's a definitive answer.
If nothing else, change the filter every time, use an OEM filter, change oil at the specified intervals, and use synthetic oil.

Mobil1 or Toyota. Once I break 200k miles I will use the high mileage version of Mobil1.

BTW, Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)!

Doesn't matter. 0w-20, 5w-20, 0w-30 or 5w-30 are all gonna work. Use an OEM filter or better and change oil/filter every 5k.

    Guaranteed no oiling problems fo-eva.

I like the Dollar Store. I don't have to get dressed up like I do when I go to Walmart.

Me too but I still wouldn't use their oil.

BTW isn't it like $1.25 now or is that just my shitass state?

Prepare for 15 different answers lol

I use Amsoil and their filter. I change the oil at 5k and the filter at 10k.

Anyone know the difference in these Toyota Oil part numbers? Cant find a description of exactly what they are anywhere other than 0W20 and there is a price difference but that's all I can find.
    00279-0W201
    00279-0W201-01
    00279-0W201-TSMBL

Also, does anyone recommend purchasing the Toyota OEM oil filter wrench or is there another better option out there?

    Thanks for any help!

Get the motivx kit it's nice quality. Those oil part numbers are probably superceded revisions of each other.

If you're not using Kirkland branded oil from Costco you're just flushing money straight down the toilet. There. I said it. :bananadead:
