not just about open/closed box although that is important. But the size of the tubes on how they create negative air dynamics for the motor. They create oversized filters and multilayered tubes to look big but in fact do nothing but harm performance. Again, not my 2 cents but words from a guy that you can put in the trust category.

Right but he was talking about a specific system for fords that S&B makes and about open air systems in general not about closed CAI. That ford intake has large filters and deceptively large tube forcing more volume but not more lbs of air because its open and possibly doing harm and making less power. Bigger filters and bigger intakes are fine as long as they are adding more lbs from cold dense air obviously he thinks so since he sells them. As far as the Tundra CAI its a closed system so should be getting that cold dense air, and until someone actually has the intake its just speculation on what the tube is like as far as being multilayered like that ford one to trick the MAF. Hopefully they are not trying to bypass the MAF with some inner liner like that but will have to wait till it arrives to find out.

True story. Unfortunately from the looks of the pictures in the 22-23 Tundra link it looks to be more of the same here. Bigger isn’t bad, it’s how the whole system works together that’s important. We shall see

Just got mine on Tuesday. Added a bunch of OEM stuff (mostly made in the USA or Canada (skid plate): TRD running boards, bed step, storage, TRD skid plate, black tailgate lettering inserts. Really happy with the accessories and didn't take long to install.

FYI: the 1794 with the TRD offroad package said it came with a skid plate, but it was hard plastic and really small. I didn't see an air dam when I was under there, and only got one keyfob. Still, extremely happy with the truck. I'm sure I'll get my second keyfob in a few months.

Congrats on choosing The Best Color and The Best Trim Package. Beware that the awesome paint will scratch when you look sideways at it (let alone slip and drag a kayak down it :annoyed:).

Ordered Go Rhino RB20's today. 30% off sale today only. Normally they are always 20% to 25% off. Was going to wait until the truck was actually here but the extra savings I pulled the trigger early.

Cool! Is that material for sure only for sound deadening? I would take it out of confirmed. My concern is that it's for water as well.

Yea it’s definitely not a prefilter of any kind. The air box is still open to water through the open intake duct to the fender. I would take a picture of it to show you but it’s blowing and raining cows and pigs for another day

Besides a bed rug, & folding topper - I tried my hand at jazzing up the hood and sides of my new Celestial Silver Tundra with some "Strobe" matt black striping. If it doesn't fly off when I get on the highway - I'm stoked.

Installed my Talon Garage catalytic converter skid. The only “skids” I see included on my “Off Road Trail” are plastic. I’ll be adding an engine skid next. BA397C1B-FF95-408C-8113-1ECDA066DA76.jpg 0E64177A-8D38-4727-A686-41CD3EBB5AD6.jpg

Installed the TRD axle back. Like others have said, not a drastic improvement over stock but it definitely sounds better. I may have a magnaflow muffler welded in but an exhaust shop near me. I can’t bring myself to spend the money on a dirty deeds. The 1k for a bolt on muffler is ridiculous.

Hey all! This may be regarded as a dumb or ignorant statement/question, but hear me out.

So the main differences in a cold air intake vs a stock filter is both the filter and pulling air from outside of the engine compartment. That and wider tubing for better flow.

I was looking at the options for a cold air intake for a 2022 and 2023 tundra. I have used various non cold and cold air intakes for a few cars over the years. I watched a video of afe installing theirs on a new tundra and I noticed something when they removed the stock box. The stock intakes are connected to the wall and already pulling air in from outside of the engine compartment.

Other than the better filter on an aftermarket intake, it hardly seems worth the $600+ price tag. One could potentially get a similar upgrade in just changing the stock filter to a K&N (insert any brand you like here) filter for a fraction of the cost.

What am I missing? Let's discuss lol.
