I don't want to come across like I'm telling anyone what they need to do so I apologize if that's what it sounded like. What I will say though is if, as you said, that pathetic acceptance of scumbags and their scumbaggy behavior continues unabated as I think it probably will it's only a matter of time before they drive all of the businesses out of the area and there won't be anywhere to shop and then your brother could end up seeing the value of his home (I'm assuming he is a home owner) plummet. That would truly suck. Just something to think about. It sounds like he knows how to take care of himself though. When your wife has to cover your 6 by walking behind you open carrying a shot gun so you don't end up a victim while shopping for garden supplies at the Depot, you got to admit that is pretty hard core. The wild wild west.

    Anyways I'm off to work.

In the time your spent typing on this thread, you could have called the 24 hour number on the back of your debit card and reported this to fraud protection.

Stuff like this is why I

    - live in the middle of nowhere
    - carry (wife does as well)

I pray to God I never need to use it...but it's like insurance. I'd far rather have it and not need it, than the alternative.

I'm new to this forum and did not read the entire thread... saw your post and thought I'd chime in on my experience from a vendor who did not ship my item as promised.

Years ago... I purchased a set of coilovers from a well known vendor in another forum (not Tundras.com) and the vendor did not ship my item after 2 months wait. I told them I will file a charge back if they don't send the item in 5 days. Five days later, no update from them so I called AMEX to file a charge back. AMEX accepted my claim and the vendor refunded my money... howver, during my call AMEX said if this had gone past 90 days (3 months) they could not do anything getting my money back. So I'm glad I called before their deadline.

I'm not sure if the same rule apply with debit card purchases but I hope you get your money and or parts... waiting over 6 months for car parts is ridiculous, good luck.

Oh and btw, I ordered the same car part from another vendor and got it within 10 business days... so I think the first vendor was playing me.

The last time I called the number on the back of my card is when I noticed about $1500.00 in charges to Microsoft for products I did not buy. It got me no where. That was on a Friday night after regular business hours and all I got was an endless loop of automated phone messages. I had to wait until Monday morning to go into my bank to take care of it. I was able to temporarily disable my debit card using the banking app on my phone but I could not raise an actual human being calling that number. The number on the back of my debit card is basically useless.

That being said, I did manage to get to my bank today. I had a nice hour long sit down with the bank manager. I explained everything to her. I told her about the fact that I'm not the only one having problems with getting the products that I ordered, that this is common problem. Told her about the complete lack of communication on Tyler's part and showed her the long list of unanswered E-mails. She located and verified the payment in my statements for November. I told her other people where resolving the issue by doing charge backs on their credit cards and I was wondering if I could do that with my debit card. She originally gave me a phone number that I could call and file a case but she said unlike a credit card it can be difficult with debit cards because unless their is a court ordered judgment against Tyler for fraud I would be relying on Tyler to refund me. But then as she was looking into it a bit closer she found there was a way for her to file it with the banks fraud recovery department or something along those lines so she filled out a report and sent it in and said I should get some kind of answer by Monday as to what can be done about recovering my payment. From what I understand this could become a criminal investigation if they determine Tyler is defrauding people. I told her that I don't think he has any intent to purposely defraud anyone as people have gotten their orders I just think he has personal problems that he lets get the better of him. I don't know what those problems are whether drugs or alcohol, mental health, family matters or maybe he just doesn't give a rats ass how long it takes. I can say one thing for certain that he does not know how to run a business and has 0 communication skills.

I really don't want to see Tyler get in any legal hot water but he is bringing this shit upon himself. I don't know what he expects. I know he is reading these posts. He knows I want my money back. So if he won't reach out and try to resolve the matter with me then let the chips fall where they will. So maybe he reads this post and realizes that hay this is getting serious and I should probably make some attempt to resolve this problem. I would highly suggest he do that.

Tyler PM me if you don't want to hash it out here in public but do something. 7 months is coming up quickly and there is no way you can deem that to be acceptable.

Here where I live it is pretty insolated to a large degree. People here have money and even though this is California and in the Santa Barbara county, the valley tends to be more conservative then Santa Barbara proper, A historically liberal collage town. So I'm not seeing any of this insanity here where I live but if I journey 80/90 miles north or south of here I'm sure I can find it. I know that if I have to go anywhere south of San Fernando or anywhere near San Francisco I will be traveling with a loaded 45 in my center console for my own safety. I use to live down in Hollywood area back in the early 90's and never felt the need to carry a fire arm with me but not any more. Even though the 90's where a violent decade with a good amount of gang violence I would rather deal with that then what we are dealing with now. At least with the gangs they where somewhat predictable and if you carried your self properly you could navigate that landscape even though it could be violent there was at least a street level logic to it. This stuff to day is just crazy and there is no logic to the lawlessness and violence. It is unpredictable and the people doing the crimes feel like society owes them something and they are only taking what they feel they deserve. Which is total BS of course.

I've heard this from many friends north of the border. I gotta say, I prefer the US system. Sure it sucks to get a medical bill but I have learned you can negotiate the bill fairly easily and there is numerous programs/charities that can pay for some of it for you. I'll take this method any day for the once in a blue moon I actually need to use my insurance. The normal doctor stuff is covered anyway. Plus, I always max out my tax advantaged health care accounts which help tremendously for savings and general budgeting.

I don’t even use a debit card for gas station purchases. Debit cards are dangerous for this exact reason. No consumer protections, and i like playing the points games. Heavily discounted trips every year :plane:

Yep. I have preached this for years and still get horror stories from people who I warned to NOT EVER use a debit card on the internet. Some people will never learn.

No, no they won’t. Credit cards are amazing tools if you know how to use them and any benefits that come with them. I even recently refi’d and my new lender accepts any Visa lmao. I have a Friday ritual where I pay all of them off every week. Zero balance for 10 years now, and enjoying the free money that kicks back

I talked to the bank manager about getting a CC yesterday. I haven't financed anything since 2003 so my credit score is 0. That makes it a pain in the ass. At least I have money in the bank or they probably wouldn't issue me one at all. For most situations debit cards have the same protections as CC's just without the bonus points. Where that changes is with things like this but when dealing with fraudulent purchases they will put the money back in your account without any problem. I know because I had to do it. It's just that usually you are dealing with it at a much earlier stage, not 6 months after the fact.

I know today it's kind of unheard of but I'm one of those guys that prefers to deal in cash. I own everything I have outright. I have very little in the way of reoccurring bills beyond rent and basic utilities. I live well with in my means and for most of my life that meant I saved and then I bought. I financed vehicles in the past, the last one was in 2003. I hate being strapped with large monthly payments because in construction you are subject to things like housing crashes and can find yourself out of work for extended periods of time and having to hide your truck from the bank so they don't come and take it from you sucks. I have a few nice things that I have spent money on, my truck being one of them but for the most part I don't spend a lot of money on frivols things. My job requires that I own a lot of tools so over the years I have spent a small fortune acquiring tools but beyond that rent, groceries and gas are my biggest spendy items. I don't have children so things are simplified in that regard.

Tyler finally sent me an e-mail but it doesn't look like things are going to be resolved anytime soon. I might be stuck having to wait it out.

By paying everything off weekly, I also deal in cash and own everything I buy. Just because it goes through a CC doesn’t change that fact.
And since you’re a tool guy like me and probably most guys in this forum, you should start considering credit as one of the most important tools you have. You have to build and maintain it, and it is very powerful for when you need it. Better to have it and not need it, right? I encourage you to brush up on how to build and maintain credit.

After waiting 3 months, I contacted Tyler through his website and gave him a week to respond to my email. Didn't get a response so I did a charge back through Chase. Had my Talons Garage plate within a few days and just finished installing it

Very good advice. Between my wife and myself, we have 18 different cc’s. Haven't used a debit card for a merchant in years, only at ATM's. Only a few are daily drivers but all get used somehow most of the time. Mainly by me because she can't ever remember which one to use and where, like gas vs groceries vs home depot, etc. I pay them all off at the end of the month so have never paid any interest charges. The shitty part is that I had to make an excel spreadsheet to keep track of all them all. Most people would be turned off from that, but I don't mind at all really. And when cc's come up in conversation and I mention we have that many, most of the time they immediately assume that we're ass deep in cc debt and our credit scores are shit. Both are exactly opposite.

Every so often one of them gets compromised somehow, but whatever. The card gets a new number and I just use another in the mean time.

Best part is we go on a free vacation every year paid via credit card points/miles. So it makes it all worth it to me!

I use YNAB and sync my accounts to it. I know, there are risks with syncing my financial information, but it makes budgeting so damn easy and every purchase I make is consolidated. I feel that it’s worth the subscription, and it helps my instantly catch any fraudulent activity should it arise.

Okay. I talked to Tyler and we have reached an agreement. I will be letting him fulfill the order and should be seeing something here soon. I will let everyone know how it turns out. I'm hoping for the best.

I put every bill that i have on a card and pay for it in full monthly. Zero interest and the points and perks grow nice and quick. As many have said before me i rarely ever use my debit card unless it is at an ATM.

Off-topic regarding refunds, but for those with a Valhalla engine skid - how did you secure the bumper's valence to it? It has three holes, so I'm guessing there's probably a push nut of some sort that can secure it by screw, but I don't have one. Currently have it zip tied (which looks fine tbh), but looking for a more permanent fix.
