I want my navigation map to always show North as up. How do I do that? I can't find anything in the manual about setting it that way.

In the Toyota navigation, you click on the compass icon on the right side (I believe there's also a setting for this in the navigation settings)
In Carplay on both apple maps and google maps, you click on the compass in the upper right.

Thanks! Here's some pics for others. It is indeed the "compass" icon and it toggles between the two map display settings.

I find it annoying that the orientation won't save. Every time I restart the truck I get one of the three, seemingly at random. Someone posted a tip to make it save, but it didn't work for me.

This is happening to me. I called Toyota and their help is just useless. I was told to call the dealer. Just worthless!

it helps if you put the @ in front of his name like @wedemmoez ,then he'll get notification he was mentioned.

@wedemmoez, you claim to be a Toyota engineer, can you get this issue fixed?

Yup, Toyota maps/nav is screwy. Yesterday I drove from Houston to Dallas-straight up I-45 North. According to Toyota's nav, as I drove thru Huntsville, I-45 turns in to I-345! It gave me a shorter route option, so I selected it. Well, turns out the shorter route was to use I-345N instead of I-45!
The Tundra's are built in Texas, you'd think they get a 300 mile interstate highway in your home state right! And don't get me started on the lack on scan feature on the radio.

Anyone know how to register a problem or complaint with Toyota? Other than the very worthless support.toyota.com website or calling the Contact Us phone number?

So, you change the orientation of the map such that the map is always north, shut off the vehicle, and upon restarting, the map orientation is back to "map is always north"?

    I appreciate your help.

I tried again twice and both times the map reverted back to the setting I did not want.

    I'm stumped.

    Lots of stuff!
I tried mine today and it didn't stay North.

I do use carplay more so it doesn't really bother me but occasionally, we will be out of cell range and the Toyota nav will be used.

Mine is even worse now. My head unit software updated yesterday for the first time ever. I was hopeful this would fix it, but now the view reverts to travel up every time I leave the Nav window. If I change the view to 3D, then hit music, then back to Nav, now it's travel up again. Fairly minor inconvenience, but good grief.

yeah ours does that from day one. not that big of a deal, but i am starting to like the follow feature more than the true north setting.

I think I give up now too. Truck seems to want me to use track up, so I have been using that. I prefer the angled view but this view is fine. I still like the Tundra nav better than Apple, Google, Waze, or any of the other nav apps I have on Carplay.

I still think Garmin has the best user interface of all of them. I use a dedicated Garmin on my motorcycles and I love it. Better than any smartphone app.

Well, this thread would indicate that while you cannot replicate the issue on your test vehicles, many others continue to experience this issue, myself included. Hell, mine changes while I'm using it. I use navigation so infrequently, though that it doesn't bother me much. It should stay, though, and it doesn't.
