Discussion in 'General Tundra Discussion' started by AT x AT, Oct 26, 2022.

?

To Overland or Not to Overland

  1. I would like to join an Overland Detachment.

  2. I would like to enjoy trail leader, lead day trip(s) and return back to base camp to sleep.

  3. I would like to explore the trails by me, myself and I.

@Cruzer has 40’s and double lockers. He could’ve done that line backwards in 2wd locked lol

Its a line I’ve done before, just slipped off the rock and turtled on my stupidly low crossmember

I may have even taken that line again when Vance and I redid Broken Arrow on the last day but I can’t remember. We were messing around on that trail a lot that day

Want everyone to know we’re working with the US Forest Service to track availability of the site for us. We’re keeping alternate locations in our back pocket in partnership with USFS.
If they deem the site unusable due to potential damage to the area, we will relocate to another location. Our primary concern is the environmental impacts of a large number of trucks and people on the fragile ground when it’s soaked.

Yes, we know some people love to play in the mud, but this isn’t the place for that.

The dates will remain the same.

Announcements and communications will follow as needed through all available channels including posts here, emails to registered guests, website updates, Instagram and Facebook threads.

We’re hopeful the next couple weeks will dry it out effectively.

Well, warmer than the previous forecast I shared. So maybe ‘warming up’ is a relative term. Still gonna be freezeballs at night.

How far away is the back-up site from the original one? Not that it matters, we're going anyways, just curious.

Also, it's been a few years and I can't remember, but how 2wd friendly are the Cinders? It's been a while since I was last there with a 4x4 but we might want to just go watch this year in our 2wd.

have a few options in play now, but trying to keep as close to the original site as possible. Cinders is 2wd friendly if you’re not afraid to air down a little and make liberal use of the loud pedal. I run the whole Go Fast Friday course in 2wd.

I have to give credit to James Norris for the edits. He’s a man after my own heart. LoL.

This is true, when in doubt, go faster. I’m excited to not be on bump stops this year!!! That was my only slowing factor most of the time.

Yes - stock trucks can run the course. They have different classes depending on mods.
