    Hi guys.

    Thank you for reading.
I have a 2020 plat. with less than 5k miles.

Since day one the front end has a 1 knock klonk noise when am turning on to the road like the some part got loose. it happens everytime....1 klunk noise. I figure its roughy 4x4 body thing......

Now after i added a trd sway bar and 1 inch wheel spacer i notice a creaking rubbing noise also in the front passenger wheel well area when am moving on uneven surface even low speed. Like a dull rubbing eeekkeeeekeeek!.

I suspect its the new TRD sway bar but i checked all nuts and bolts all is tight. Any ideal?

    Thanks again

The Knock/Clunk noise is probably just the ABS self check if it does it every time at the same speed and short distance.

Good info, every single time I begin to drive my 21, I get a slight groan, creaking type noise from what sounds like the front left.

Happens every single time when I get to about 3mph, lasts 1 second long, and is not a concerning noise, it's very mild. Only does it that one time per trip and will not do it again until the truck is parked and shut off, then Restarted, and driven.

I can just about perfectly time when it will make the noise.

Diff not that noise. The clunk noise everytime we start the car and turn is very mechanical this noise i have is like a rubbing clicking rattling noise. It happens everytime i go slow 5mph driving into my uneven drive way. I can even hear it when am backing up trying to turn my truck around. Always from the drive side front. If i open the window i have problem hearing it.

    I elimated
    1. Not the new trd sway bar. I greese n tighten everything. Maybe the existing balllink but that only 4k miles new.
    2. Not my wheel spacers because i try removing them and still hear it
    3. The front cv axle move in and out slightly making a clinking noise if i try to jerk it. But thats a much louder noise u can hear with window open.
    4. I pushed and touch every loose plastic panels n clips and dont seem to find one that will rattle everytime being so consistent.
    5. My suspension every nuts and connecting partts i tighten n greased

In the end i still get the same noise.....hit a bump or uneven surface......clock clock clock! Crlokclokclockclock.....still no idea......if anyone have any idea.......and yes i did went to 2 mechanic still no one found it......thank you

Do you have a TRD skid plate?

    No

I have 3 missing bolts between the plastic bumper and the oem skid plate. The oil change guys or the previous owner just zip tied it. Could that be?

    Too many, but not enough....
significantly doubt it. There wouldnt be enough movement there to make noise. You could just zip tie those.

Thank you i try see if the bolts on the skid plates are loose .....but i pulled on the plate it seem secured with no loose ends. These noise only occure when the front ends trwisting or wobbling left and right slowly on uneven surface. Never on street or highway

Yes this would be consistent with the TRD Skid plate not being torqued properly, which is why I was asking about it. It happened to me as well. I dont think I have ever heard of it being an issue with the standard, non TRD skid plate but I guess it could be possible.

Just an update. I gave up finding out......I still couldnt find the source of the noise. The skid plate doesnt seem like it. The trd sway bar i took it out 3 times to check still nothing and tight. The tighter i bolt it down the more noise it makes......since my car only have 5k miles i doubt its the end link but its possible i damaged it. Its annoying.....everytime i go over an uneven surface sounds like a screaky old wood rubbing noise...sometime the knocking noise sound like a loose metal bushing part...........i just suspect something is off alignment or something but i gave up......indo have 1" spacers......if anyone have any idea. Thx

Is the noise still there? How tight did you torque the bolts for the front sway bar end links and the bolts to frame?

I’m also having a clunking that coincided with the install of my sway bar that I took off for a while. I think I might have overtightened the mounting bolts.

Am not sure but i have tried everything. From changing the struts alignment, balancing, air pressure, needle bearing. ...... but that clicking or knocking ekkk ekkk ekkk! Noise still coming from the driver side. ..... i have also grease everything. Removed the TRD sway bar and reinstall it. .... noise and wobble still there.

Originally i thought the knocking noise was from the bad needle bearing. But when i took it out it looks new now issue.........all issues starts with the red TRD sway bar. Prior to that i hard no issues.....i have small suspicion its the end ball joint....but its only passenger side.....

On top of all the issues when i brake the steering wobble slightly.........so could be rotor......i guess if it bother u enough take off sway bar install oldnone and see if its still have that noise for me i just accept it. Noise dont bother me its the steering wobble that suck. I only have 15k miles....started since 5k miles

You keep saying you removed the sway bar and reinstalled everything tight but still making noise. Have you removed it and taken it for a drive before putting it back on?

Skid plates are great insurance but a pain. If you have skid plates then they stack on top of one another. They also get removed and replaced by mechanics that are in a hurry and DGAF. They get dirty, gritty and when they are stacked that dirt/grit gets between the plates and on the trail you have your head out trying to figure out where the party is coming from.

It would not take much effort to remove the new sway bar and leave it off, remove the skid plates (all of them) and remove the wheel spacers unless it rubs without, then I would leave them on but check the torque for the spacer to the rotor then the wheel to the spacer.

Go for a drive with nothing on and start from there. If the noise is still there then obviously it was not all of that but if it is gone, put things back on one at a time taking it for a drive after each item is replaced

Sorry for the story, I was getting a little confused how you were doing things

I don't think you mentioned tie rods. Could be the cause to the slight "wobble" when slowing down. I just took mine in to get both tie rods replaced since there was a significant "wobble" when braking hard and I also have the "creaking" noise when moving very slowly and turning. After further inspection by manually shaking the wheel with my hand its clear as day that mine were super loose and lacked grease in the bushings so I'm just getting them replaced entirely. Super easy to check if you have a lift. It's running me about $450 at my local shop since I don't have the time to install them myself...

Could you post some more pictures of all the linkages between steering components, suspension, sway bar, and your cv axles.

I have the exact same issue as you. What’s the temperature outside when this happens? I’ve noticed mine only happens when the temp drops in to the 40’s. I only hear the noise going over speed bumps on compression of the suspension. Hear it coming from left front wheel area as well. If I go over speed bumps at an angle no noise. Only hear my noise when colder outside and when both tires go over and suspension compresses at same time. I’m thinking it’s sway bar bushings. I had the same issue on a Chevy I had with a BDS lift and 35’s. Tundra I have now has 2.25 inch Dobinsons with 35’s. I’m really thinking it’s the sway bar bushings. I replaced my Chevy with moog bushings and no more noise. Haven’t got around to doing that to this Tundra because I just noticed this a few weeks ago. My noise sounds like a slight crunch. Also over 60 today and no noise at all. Sun went down, temp dropped 15 degrees I got the noise.

It happens on any temperature........it gets worst/louder if i have wheel spacers on.......it didnt have that noise when i 1st put on the new trd sway bar........yes could be the bushing but i tried spraying it with all types of lubes and noise still there........its sound like some plastic rubbing noise. ... on top of that i hv wheel wobble at 70mph.....all the unresolved issues on the forum i have......honestly am sick of this truck at 15k miles.....people say toyota is reliable and good quality is all legend and bs.....worst car i have so far

The noise is gone. It appears to be those cheap swollen lug nuts. Once i changed them out the noise are out completely

Yea i wasted so much time looking for this issue and it was 3 swollen lugs maybe they were loose......now still have the steering wobble at 70mph.....maybe because i have spacers on

I wonder if the increased track width from spacers affect steering feel at speed. I run them as well.

are these the OE lug nuts?

Yes the spacer make the ride feel different.....i would not use them again.........yes the OE lug nuts. They are very cheap and might not work properly.....If u have the noise try to replace those nuts even with same oe style.....just dont use a air torque wrench on them
