It's not a must. But it's very nice to have. Especially when passing or off roading

How much do installs generally cost on gearing? I could probably find out online but that would take the fun away from the lunch table

    4.88's. You'll get better mileage.

33's are ok on stock gears but you don't daily yours do you? But it'll be way better with gears

Gain on mileage most likely. Especially around town.

Yes. I'm 4.10 on stock tires, well until I find 4.30's

    ^ This is the way.

    Necessary no, but way better.

Remember the 4 speed overdrive is slightly better than the 5. The big difference is 1&2.

I do wish I had some drive time with the bigger tires before the regear but it all got done in one giant yearlong chunk with suspension being the blocker.

Nope, apart from a wood splitter from time to time. My truck is mainly used for camping and broverlanding by my lonesome.

I'm a maintenance tech on the line that makes the frames for those things. Didn't realize they weren't really worth a shit. I wouldn't buy one anyway. They pay me well to work on the robots and machines that make em so y'all keep buying them.

I'd LOVE to. That Vegas in the desert almost made me quit my job, drop out of school, and give up on my own side hustle just to screw around for a few days in Sedona. The 14-hour drive and realization of adult life makes me weep a little bit every night as I just can't go...

Gotta pay to play. Or DIY. Why you think I work hella OT year after year? I gotta spoil my lady truck with the finest of parts. It's a disease really.

That's what I'm saying. I don't doubt I'll force myself to do it within a year of getting new tires though. I have this strange internal conscious that hates spending money until one day I tell em to fuck off and I click buy - that's how I ended up with my chunky bumper and winch

I thought about this, and surely have a case. With an alternator being 1k and god knows what labor on top of it from the dealer, I decided against it. I also would have to get the tow of shame. That's one big bill to try and negotiate. I pulled the alternator this morning, and will grab that one from the salvage yard for 80 tomorrow. I'll just install it myself, obviously. I'll drop it off for the valve cover and shock replacement Friday, and buy a warranty for it when I pick it up.

the pic was in my phone, so i must've mentioned it. Trickflow bits on the 302, dad bought it from grandpa, did several flat footed runs through the desert between houston and vegas. It was 'moms', but dad and i kept on top of it, kept everything clean & changed the fluids. It got sold for a '98 z/28 that was silly fast, but total garbage.

the lsc had a single seat motor that ran the 7 seat functions through a transmission. That was the first time i'd ever heard of someone spending more than $100 for a part, let alone $1000. Blew my mind because my first car when i was 14 was a $400 opel.
