Apparently Toyota decided to remove this weather stripping from 2022 tundras but they had them on Sequoia, and 2023 tundras.

What irks me is Toyota heard their most loyal customers complain of wind noise for 20 months and pretended they didn't know the cause, when in fact they had the missing part number all along. If this missing weatherstrip in fact fixes the wind noise, they need to recall all 2022 tundras and install this piece for their customers at no charge. This is pathetic that a youtuber has to investigate and provide a solution while we still wait on toyota.

I'm sure toyota is saying, oh just buy a new 2023 tundra, the wind issues are fixed on those models, what a bunch of low life degenerates car dealers and manufacturers have become.

Hope they do a recall for 2022

Here I was thinking its the shit poor quality of the adhesive on my seals themselves around the doors, I still want to show pics of my 9 yr old and 13 yr old camry window/door seals vs my new tundra.

Not missing a entire trim piece that wedges the main door seam :boink:.

Agreed. Seems like a deliberate action to leave them out for whatever reason. Toyota needs to get these weatherstripping retrofitted on the 22s.

I just went out and verified that my June 2022 production Limited does indeed have the “missing” seals. Here’s the catch - I had a tremendous amount of wind noise. It took sealing the windshield which has multiple air leaks from poor initial seal, and adding 3M automotive weather stripping adhesive to the the window seals that leaked like a sieve. It was a real pain in the add and tested my sanity, but I just about eliminated the wind noise at this point. None the less, this is unacceptable with a brand new vehicle that cost as much as they do.

I have significant wind noise on my passenger side (22 TRD OR). For those who have had this addressed at the dealership can you LMK what service they provided (did they add the weatherstrips you mention here TXTundra?)

Just went out and looked at my Limited I picked up last Thursday and it indeed has these on it. I drove it home 650 miles and didn’t have any wind noise

My June 22 build Platinum has the seals. I don’t have wind noise but I did have a whistling noise coming from my mirrors around 30 mph. I was able to pinpoint where it was coming from and fixed it myself.

My 22 does not have excessive wind noise either. A very slight one around 80 on the expressway in windy conditions that is consistent with other tall vehicles I have owned. So the model or root cause seems still be an open ? Seems like a large company with a wind tunnel could narrow it down one would think.

My 2022 Limited OR built in Jan 2022 HAS these “missing” seals. Wind noise is the worst of any vehicle I’ve owned. Dealer has replaced the window runs(some twice) with no improvement.

Folding in my mirrors eliminates the slight whistle I get on the passenger side. Wind noise still persists.

Can you share what the root cause of the wind noise was, and how you fixed it?

2023 Tundra SR Crew Max 4x4, and I have no seals. Also, I don't get heavy deep wind noise, only higher pitch, I don't think from this area of the door

My SR5 Double Cab does not have these seals and I do have a mild amount of wind noise above 30 MPH. Do you have wind noise ? Did your vehicle already have the seals ? Did you add them yourself ? Is the noise gone or not ? TIA.

Yes I did put a post out there somewhere but mine was from the spot where the mirrors pivot. There are plastic “pads” on the mirror and on the base. They are a little raised to the touch and a little jagged. I used clear hockey tape and carefully covered those pads up so there is no lip. It instantly solved my problem. Clear hockey tape is thin and very pliable. It worked like a charm. It took a lot of trial and error but it was easy to finally pinpoint because of the low speed mine happens at. I think this is why when most people folded the mirrors in the noise went away.

It doesn't seem like the parts involved should be model-specific, regardless of whether or not there is wind noise.

We're all passionate about our trucks. That's why we are on this forum. If Toyota does not retrofit the parts, I bet most of those who come across the information that are missing said parts will end up spending the $80 to get them.

I get what you mean. I was thinking the same, but in the end my logic is that this is not a direct comparison since we're talking about features vs. just basic parts.

This is not missing on my 2022 1794. So we can dispel the theory that no 2022 came from the factory with it. But I appreciate that you took the time to find out the fix because it definitely prompted me to check and see if mine had it.

I think we'll need to agree-to-disagree on this topic 'cause I'm taking the side of the consumer.

Leaving these door seals off any trim is asinine, given the base price of any trim of new Tundra they should be given adequate noise reduction parts to mitigate (such door seals) as a standard option on all trucks, it's not a Tacoma.

I have them on my 22 Limited (sept 22 build date).

I haven’t noticed much if any wind noise.

I got a November 2022 build eary 2023 base model. Bad wind noise around window-mirror area. Tried in the window jam window visors to see if a tighter fit would quiet it down. To no avail it didn’t work. I just ordered these door seals. Have a whistle noise that gets much worse with a slight cross breeze. Audible above 50mph. Definitely annoying. Hope this fix’s it.

You guys with wind noise issues should really try the painters tape trick. Tape off one gap at a time on the outside of the truck, go a mile on the freeway to test it, then exit, remove and apply new tape to a different gap, and so forth.

I did this to narrow down a whistle on my 2020. Taped the perimeter of the windshield, then around the entire door panel, and finally around the window which was the issue.

Did that... Dealer replaced driver side window twice within half year to fix the whistling...

No more whistling sounds but still some wind noise can be heard. I test drove 24 platinum and that thing was about 15-20% quieter and no wind noise heard at all....

So, it's better yes... But we can't them make our 2022 and some early 2023s as good as it should be
