    Yeah, I was just hoping to get to maybe an even 3” or so by bottoming out the threads, and the equivalent amount on the other side. I have an extra 100 lbs under the hood which may help also. If it just hits the bellows that’s fine, but would suck to install them and get it aligned to find out it’s making metal on metal contact. If it’s minimal maybe a little grinder action would be necessary, although it would suck to have to do.

    I wouldn't worry too much just yet. I wish jhines621 or someone else with the new springs would follow up on exactly what is touching.

    The tie rod is contacting the lower collar at full lock. The pics I posted were not held at full lock but you can tell there is contact on the aluminum… I asked IM about the changes if I were to tighten the lower collar for clearance and they replied that they have never thought of that but “might be worth a try on my end” I had to order spanner wrenches as the kit came with nothing.

    Your pics show that the shock collar is touching the rubber bellows on the tie rod, not anything metal. Are you metal on metal anywhere?

    If you raise the lower spring perch so it clears, it will increase the lift. 3.5" is already at the limit of what anyone should do, and way past best practice IMO. Plus you'll need to remove the shock to access with the wrench... it is not an easy thing to check.

    I have been very cautious as soon as I noticed this happening and yes, it is making contact with the collar… I really don’t want to increase height. I need function over anything…

    Did you change out the upper control arms for the 3.5” lift or are they the stock ones? I’m wondering what effect that may have on the clearances?

    they are stock UCAs... At this point, its not going to be worth keeping this kit with the amount of issues and potential damage to my truck...

    how come the rubbing pics vs. the non rubbing pics have the tie rod ends curving opposite directions? there are a left and a right tie rod end.

    You need aftermarket UCA if you like it or not. You have probably 1.6 caster. It’s a lot of knowledge over here on this forum, just do your research and try to understand how suspension components works together.

    I didn’t respond to your identical comment on the page that you admin including when you made additional comments regarding me personally. Your input is irrelevant as UCAs will NOT correct the issue I’m having. They will adjust caster yes, but there are more underlying issues with the kit that I received.

    They designed the kit. Not me.
    I didn’t do any comments anywhere else.
    Show us full picture of your suspension and your alignment print please.

    My apologies… there were posts in a FB group where the admin was running their mouth about me because I argue that UCAs are not required. They state that it can cause rubbing at the top of the spring and that is not where my issues lie with this. This was the last printout before they turned me away due to the parts being incorrect. The caster was within specs and truck does not pull in either direction. If I hit full lock, the wheel moves off center.

    You are getting rubbing on the lower part of the shock, but that is an easy fix with an angle grinder.

    I'm still not sure it's metal rubbing on the collar, and that is the important point here. The bellows can cause a rub mark. I do agree with you that a UCA will not help, as that doesn't effect your shock mount... on 2nd thought though it will change the way your LCA alignment pivots are adjusted, and that will effect your lower shock mount and may effect the tie rod clearance.

    I bet that's it. If the LCA was pivoted rearward, wouldn't that help?

    Is it possible that aside from designated drivers and passengers sides, there is. Front/back direction they should be facing. I noticed non symmetrical holes in the top plates on both which I was wondering if they could indicate the front or back?

    That guy is great... wish he owned a Tundra.

    That's what I'm saying regarding the UCA. 3.5" lift with the stock UCA means means he has to adjust the LCA as far forward as possible to get decent caster. That pushes the lower shock mount forward. With an aftermarket UCA he can move that back.

    Yep I'm now convinced it's in alignment. There's lots of components in close proximity swinging through arcs of motion and alignment adds up to HUGE variation between trucks. Also the note from Ironman confirms they recommend shifting upper ball joint back to gain more caster vs. adjusting lower ball joint forward. Guys had this same issue on the big 3.0 shocks from other brands when they came out.

    Same answer as before. Metal on metal. Find it. If you haven't checked to see if the coil is rubbing on the shock body, that would be the first place.

    Ive checked everything, no dice, sent a video along with a video with my tie rods hitting the coilover.. there response for the noise is “definitely upper control arm noise” and referred me to a new moon part number… and they said not to worry about the rack bellow hitting the coilover…. I’m going to see if I can return the whole thing…

    Upper arm can squeak pretty bad if its been torqued down while in the air, especially the OE arm. I would loosen the nut and retorque with it on the ground if you haven't done so. But the tie rod hitting the coil, that's a problem.

    I have the new coil design waiting to be installed and now I'm a little concerned.

    You need UCAs anyway... and that would fix your tie rod issue. Sounds perfect... so why do you want to get rid of them?
