What's your 2023 Tundra's Real World Fuel Mileage

Mine has been 17.4mpg since I got it in January, almost entirely on winter blend. Texas just changed over to summer blend a couple weeks ago.

 

I am averaging 17.5mpg over the first 12k miles.

sadly the wife drives 90% city with the tundra so that brings down our average a lot. during the summer in the 2018 she would get between 10-11 mpg city. right now she is averaging 11-13 mpg city. we will take the slight improvement however minor


the big improvement is her trips to see the grandson about 250 miles away. getting at least 3 mpg over the 2018.

she would only get about 14-15 in the 2018, last trip in winter she got 16-18

 

I average 17.0, my wife averages 23 somehow...

After 3000 miles I average 16mpg.

This could be important b/c I'm basically doing everything wrong when it comes to MPG, but if I can do all this and still see 16mpg that could be helpful for people to get a baseline.

It's used for driving around town because I work from home. No highway commuting and low highway usage overall.
I only drive it in Sport mode.
I always disable the "Engine Automatic Shutoff".
I mostly drive with all the windows down.

If it was a work vehicle and the MPG ate into my income, I would probably test some other brands to see if there's something more efficient. But it's mostly used as a big toy at this point.

 

I recently did 610 Google map miles with my 1794, on a single tank, truck all stock and registered 589 miles on odometer for said trip, prior to leaving I fill my tank up to the filler neck, set ACC at 70 mph and average 22-23mpg for the return total of about 1220 miles, i did reset my fuel gauge at halfway point both times

 

My cumulative since new in September is in my signature, what I have noticed is that summer gas gets me around 20-21MPG and winter gas was awful and pulled me down to around 17-18MPG.

 

589 miles on one tank is incredible! I have a Platinum and when I fill up it says my estimated range is just 320 miles. Does the 1794 have a bigger tank or hybrid engine?

 

Don't think so, mine said 400 & something at start, but after resetting gauge I got about 200 miles more to estimated empty

 

5 Months of ownership, 80% FRWY. 18.5 MPG

 

Same, 5 months 80%+ freeway 18.5 mpg, around or almost 4k miles now

 

80% at what speed?? 60 mph versus 85 mph has a remarkable difference

This is not my first vehicle, I know a few tricks to hypermiling, my last truck was a ecoD Laramie ram, that got 26-32, I literally am trying to squeeze good fuel mpg everywhere I go, like almost trying to tailgate every big van on freeway, super coasting in N to stops and accelerating only under 2000rpm etc. Super high tire psi etc.

I am under the impression some of these gen3 just have better tunes, like in Nov? last year some guy posted he had crazy turbo lag in his limited, he complained and was given a SR5 to drive, the sr5 had no turbo lag vs his limited - he was quite alarmed over the difference

I feel this way, I have like 0 turbo lag and I came from a ecoD that I got tranny and ECU tunes to help eliminate the turbo lag. Ppl will ask why a tranny tune helps with throttle/turbo lag, well the fca tranny modules limits throttle application when the steering wheel is not perfectly straight, when I ask here and on reddit, ppl say it's a good question and dunno if yota is or is not doing this

 

Your probably right on the tune in it. I have no problems hitting 28-30 MPG @60-65 mph where you are 18.5. I will disclose I am bone stock with the hybrid

 

I have a 2022 so this may not count!

When running on the freeway yesterday, I was at 13L/100kms or 18 mpg. Then going over the mountains I was at 15L/100 kms or 15 mpg.

The truck was doing a lot of work on the hills but did pretty good overall. I do have heavier tires than stock.

 

@Hella Krusty do you think the hybrid makes that much difference. Those are amazing results that you are getting! What drive mode are in usually using? Eco, Sport, etc...

 

I was running it at about 120kph up hill or into a head wind in standard mode. I am sure that this would be better if I slowed down but then I would get run over by a semi.

 

My drive mode is Comfort. Day I picked the truck up I put it in that and wont take it off!! I have banged around in lifted trucks for 25 years and well......dont want to any more. I love the lifted 3rd Gen though......they look cool but I wont alter this one.

I cant say the hybrid is the difference but I have no problem cranking out 28-30 MPG on a road trip thru multiple communities with multiple up and downs at around 60-70 MPH. When on cruise often I look down and the truck is rolling along at 65 on electric which never did I think would happen. I was under the assumption it was strictly for starting from a dead stop.

On another forum a person wondered if the tune of the engines are different from truck to truck. Makes sense because some get fantastic results while others do not

 

I have the hybrid, only 500 miles and mostly city where I'm driving from 0 to 55 mph with lights, I get 15.0 mpg as indicated on the truck My stock 2007 got 14mpg same driving conditions... Might need to look up this pulse and glide

lol nothing against you folks, but you people put way to much effort into getting a few mpg more

when the wife pulls 4 mpg during winter without pulling a load, i tell her i just have to fill up the truck more often.

 

What are the rear end diff ratio's across the Tundra models? That alone makes a big difference in mpg. On my previous Ram Eco D I had the 3.92 and the upper limit conservatively driven was 27-28. Friends with the 3.21 had no issue hitting low 30s. A 2wd 3.21 vs a 4wd 3.92 was quite a gap.

 

well the 2nd gen was a 4.30 across the board (all trims). i think the new 10 spd final is 3.31

 

personally i cant stand watching him anymore, i put him just above that annoying engineer guy
