I don’t see the benefit of the upside down top washer truthfully. I’ll keep that similar to the stock shock.

I didn't follow the instruction on that one. I treated mine like a hamburger, doing the top like that picture shows on the bottom. Like @artsr2002 drew up. Exactly as shown in this drawing, which I now see is different from what @w666 posted. In mine, the top washer is oriented correctly.

Looks like @w666 is right about the larger washer on the bottom, but I’m right on the top washer orientation. Check this tech support answered question:

Looks like I need a round file and a large 3/8” ID washer to compress these bushings correctly ahead of time. More crap to do because of slightly defective washers/shocks.

Just let these sit overnight and see how well they maintain their deformed shape in the morning…

Not yet. Gotta pickup a couple bed bolts at the dealership first and wait for the HOA Karens to leave to at least dry fit.

Looks like the install is Monday (still need to lift the bed a few inches to get at the the right rear shock tower nut).

The pre-compressed bushings do spring back, but they are softer initially to compress into the shock tower so I should be able to get them in there.

I was reading through this post. Can anyone tell me on the 4600s for 2014 tundra what bushing kit you purchased?
    Thanks

This is strange. I wish I had kept my instructions. I don't remember so many washers. I definitely don't remember any fitment issues, or any issues seeing enough thread to get the nut started. I remember I had to compress the bushings a little to get threads showing, but I did it by hand. Didn't run into any trouble. Something doesn't seem right with yours...but who knows.

Maybe I got some from the Bilstein reject pile? I dunno. I did complain they didn’t have a plated finish like they should but I didn’t want to wait for a replacement.

It was you. Ok, I cited it the other day but couldn't remember who it was.

Great to see this thread pop up. I'm thinking about replacing my rear shocks as the truck passed inspection for another year and I just got done with the pain in the butt steering rack job (plus power steering hoses, plus the steering shaft seal thing, plus new rag joint since mine was super rusty).

Getting the rear shocks in and out is a huge pain in the butt, right?

It can be. Depends what shocks you have in, and whether the shaft has an allen key provisioned into the top, so you can hold it while wrenching. Having ratcheting wrenches helps too.

Yep. I made it easier by loosening the bed bolts and removing them on each side I was changing the shock to get extra clearance.

Depends where you are. I've done 3 or 4 tx trucks with ratchet wrenches. Easier than sparkplugs. Granted, we had trouble with getting bmf's rear shocks started, like too much bushing, but every other one has had more than enough thread.
