I just bought a 23 Tundra and I need to buy a fold back or roll back bed cover that doesn't leak. I'd prefer to stay below $1,000.00, do you have any suggestions?

I had a Roll n Lock on my last Tundra. Never ever would I buy one again. Rattled, leaked, periodically would just roll open, freeze shut. Thing was garbage. I would go tri-fold, probably Backflip considering OEM are under a recall right now

They will all somewhat leak but if you get the full cap it wont leak at all. Those just look Ol skool. I have the Peragon and it leaks a lil bit, just not sure if they make it for your year. Good luck.

I just got my truck last week and installed the Bakflip MX4 the same day. Very happy with it so far. If I didn't get the Bakflip, I think I would have gotten the Peragon. I like that the Bakflip sits more flush on the bedrails and gives you full access to the bed when you flip it up against your cab. I like the Peragon panels dropping into the bed so they don't block the view out the back of the cab. I think the Peragon rails sit higher and don't love that. I know how side mirrors work, so ultimately went with the Bakflip

Just threw a Backflip MX4 on my new SR5 I picked up last Wednesday. Got a great deal on it from another local member, I just bought some expanding foam tape from Home Depot to use at the bulkhead to seal it up which worked perfect. Its a great cover, sits as flush as can be as others have mentioned. Haven't rained or been washed since installed so can't speak on water yet..

I modified the mouthing inserts to in the rails for my peragon. I just not a fan of blocking my rear view if I needed the bed space. Just my opinion thou.

What are your priorities? Is cost the only one?

You get what you pay for. I learned the hard way buying a Paragon....and then purchased a ReTrax XRPro.

Thank you for all your responses and user experience. I've never had a bed cover before and my main three interests are a dry bed, price and security in that order. Let's face it, if someone wants to get inside any of them, all they need is time. Locks just keep the honest people out.

I’ve got a Bak X4s (doesn’t fit right, waiting for customer service to respond about that) and a friend has the Truxedo Sentry CT. Both are similar and keep the bed dry. Truxedo is cheaper but uses the rails to mount, Bak moves the rails and uses the mounting bolts.

Both meet the security requirements, do well at keeping the bed dry, but Truxedo is cheaper and just a little over budget.

My BAKFlip MX4 seals great as well. I’ve sprayed it with the pressure washer and nothing gets in.

Was recently shipped the MX4 and while installing I discovered the predrilled holes for installing the clips near the cab weren't the correct size. Actually broke off a post trying to tap it in. Customer service was very responsive and is sending another clip installation kit. Also told me to use a larger screw to enlarge the the hole, rather than redrilling like most people do. So this is a common problem? Oh well, hopefully I'll be happy with the end result.

Just minor stuff. For example, Undercover bed cover, Tufskinz custom door sill protectors, and TRD air filters.
IMG_5927.jpg I went with the Undercover Elite because I had it before and never had water, dust, etc. get into the bed. It is a clamshell so must be removed (pretty easy though) if you want to use the bed totally uncovered. I figure it’s a small price to pay for the few times I may need to remove it. Great secure cover with no problems. I did add a rubber strip to the inside tailgate edge should the tailgate be opened accidentally with the cover closed to prevent potential scratches.

Not under $1000 but I love my Diamondback cover. Very secure, keeps out most of the water, I can walk on it, load on top of it, and takes 5 minutes to remove with a 9/16 socket.

I load my rack on top when I’m camping then take my @KB Voodoo rack off when I’m DD

Very happy with my Bakflip MX4 so far. (I've only had this truck 8 months or so)

IF ANY water gets in, it's only a tiny bit at the corners when really heavy rain or going through the car wash. None of the tri-folds are gonna' be completely watertight.

I went with the Truxedo X15. I like that it rolls up almost completely out of the way and will work with Billie Bars. Planning on installing this week.

For those of you with the Bakflip MX4, was installation easy? Do I have to drill holes or modify the truck in any way?

    TIA

Super easy to install. I did the whole thing by myself in under 2 hours and I was going slow. I never looked at the included instructions but just followed this video:

I have the Extang Exceed on my Ram and it’s been excellent. It’s a trifold but can be folded all the way to open the entire bed. My last one only fold the first two and I didn’t like that. Look for one that exposes the entire bed when needed.

Super easy for me! I dropped it off a few doors down from my office at the camper shell place where I bought it, and then picked it up when it was done.:rofl:

Was gonna' do it myself 'cuz I know it's easy, but he didn't charge me much to install. (I sell them fasteners and gave him a ridiculously good price for just that reason) :bananadance:

The only thing that requires drilling is optional. The drain tubes require a hole in the bed floor. I usually just run them under my bed mat and they drain out under the mat which keeps my crap dry.
