Hyper Flashing Led Turn Signals. Yet Again

I'm sure this has been updated since the 2020 thread, but my more leaks like a sieve and my computer skills ended a while back. Is there a simple change for the stock turn signal relay that will cure the hyper flashing with LED bulb switch, at least temporarily until I can add resisters to the factory unit. Original owner of a 2005 Tundra Access Cab. Senior Coffee at McDonalds isn't helping my memory.

 

I’m running the diode dynamics smart tap relay with mine and have no issues. Have you swapped the flasher relay or you still on the stock Toyota under the dash

 

Still stock under dash. Do I search "Diode Dynamics Smart Tap Relay" to get this wonderful thing?

 

Don't know what Daytime running lights (DTRL) means. My headlights come on when the truck starts. If this is DTRL, Diode Dynamics says this isn't compatible. Thoughts?

Do you know where the relay is?

 

As I understand it, under the driver side on the right just below the dash.

 

Reviving a 55-year-old skill, I may solder resisters in the stock unit as a backup.

 

Oh, I'm sure it'll be a piece of cake for you. It'll be a really easy wait to fix the hyper flash. No need to solder anything.

 

FWIW, I bought this new in May of 2005. SR5 Access cab165k miles, no wrecks. Only routine maintenance: oil, tires, brakes, timing belt (water pump same time), etc.

 

I’m little late getting back in here but it looks like @2006Tundra got ya fixed up.

my 06 is equipped with daytime running lights as well. Mine are unplugged to run leds. The plug is beside your battery, big grey one

 

For search purposes in case someone hits this thread later, there's a thread here and it gives info on options and I'm pretty sure shows you where the relay is. Beware the cheap ones. I didn't get but a year or two out of mine before it didn't flash anymore. It'll work for you for now though.

I am amazed at all the replies to this thread. Thanks so very much. I have purchased the inexpensive adjustable unit. I may figure out how to disconnect the DTRL switch by the battery and get the Diode Dynamics Smart Tap Relay and or solder the resisters (which I have) to convert the stock unit. I, being past the McDonalds Senior Coffee age, remember how to use hand signals, but maybe not at night...

 

So far it still works for me. I've had it installed since 2018. Cheap enough to replace if/when it fails.

 

I'll install it as soon as it arrives. Any issues with fit?

 

Nope, pops right in. There's a speed adjuster that you tune for your liking.

Hello I know this thread is from last year but here we are. 2004 toyota tundra double cab, LED front turn signal replacement (bulbs only). I have purchased the cheap Amazon 8 pin flasher to fix the hyper flash that was listed above. LED bulbs i am using are sylvania 3157a. Issue is when replacing the bulbs i have no running lights when the headlights are turned on, but the turn signal will work and so will the hazards. Next I flipped the bulbs in the socket and the running lights work with headlights on but no turn signal or hazards. Any thoughts on this? (Headlights are LED replacement bulbs with resistors)

Be careful, there's no shortage of scammers selling fraudulent inventory on scAmazon and fleaBay for this specific item. I've caught and reported several already.

 

Not sure what the difference is between A and NA?
But I do know that 3517 and 3157CK have different lead placements.
Sounds like that may be the issue..

 

thank you all for the replies, been outside in the lovely wyoming wind fiddling with this. Turns out i over looked the daytime running lights, all of the lights function as they should once the grey plug by the battery is unplugged, as stated by cummins3500. Running lights work with and without headlights on and turn signals function as they should.
