Get it man, hopefully you crash.
So if my math is correct, you'll have a 7 week stretch without nights? That's not a bad deal :)

Well, I need to get my trailer over to the shop at work. One of the guys there has agreed to go through it for me. I was trying to tighten up a bolt that loosened up on one of the leaf springs, but the spring just twists. I can't get the stupid thing to budge. Got tired of laying in the mud and rain fighting it, so I'll pay somebody that knows WTF they're doing to get it done. Asked him to just kinda go through it to make sure it's all road worthy. Need to get it over there after work today or tomorrow.

Your SxS trailer? Are you going to sell it?

That is the trailer. Not selling, but I need it road worthy. If I want to haul the bike and the kayak it's the only way to pull it off.

come hang w/me... you can sleep from 0300 until about 0900; we'll get the 'farm' taken care of; then you can go right back to bed from about 1100 till dinner, which is about 2000... that should get you caught up

Lately I can't manage to get more that 3-4 hours. That goes on for days and then I crater from exhaustion and get 8-10. Rinse and repeat.

You probably don't have a choice in this, but shift work is brutal on your system. Working just days, just swings or just nights is fine for post people; but when you are constantly bouncing back and forth and trying to decide: do I just stay up on my last day to switch over; or do I get sleep while I can and risk not being able to sleep later tonight you know you've hit a point where your body is wanting you pick a shift and stick w/it.

I did graves and late-swing hours for nearly 25 years; it never bothered me, but I also slept well most of the time 7-9 hours each night and didn't flip flop my schedule on my weekends.... wife was also on nights and we married late and never had kids, so collectively our situation made it easy for us to handle graves and remain well rested and healthy.

Maybe trying a new technique or ritual before bed might help 'prepare' your brain for sleep (computer, forum stuff, video games and TV are generally not helpful). Studies have shown that even 20 minutes of low intensity, low impact activity is an ideal way to prepare for sleep; working on a model, legos or something like that may help also. A lot of things we do in life has a tenancy to bounce our emotions / heart rate up and down and that is not a recipe for good sleep.

Fluid film it to protect from that stupid mag-chloride they cover the roads in. It's terrible on undercarriages. Congrats to the kiddo on the car!

I appreciate the concern, but this latest bit of trouble is due to the loss of my dog. I had become very dependent on having her there beside me to sleep, and I never slept well when away from home without her. 13 years is a long time to get used to something. It'll likely be several months before I equalize.

Much appreciated. It'll just take time to get the numb in place. Eventually I may find another little fur buddy to help, but for now it just is what it is.

CO. doesn’t really have that issue (much, if any at all). If she’s staying in town for first years of college, I’ll prob go that route.

Yep. Presuming it passes dealer inspection I’ll prob snag it up. I have it on hold for now.

Those seem to be one of the only weak parts on those cars. I know a guy with over 200k miles on his and still on the original one but many of them (ours included) last less than 60k miles.

Finally had a drain and fill on my truck today. It's a 2014 I bought 12/13, so almost 10 years old. Only 67k on it but I tow fairly often. I usually do my own work, but my bad back isn't getting any better plus I added up the cost of the WS, some tubing to fill (or a pump), and a OBD dongle cause the old laptop I had Tech Stream on died. At that point I said fuck it and took it to the dealer.
Nice service advisor confirmed that they don't use a machine or flush, just a drain and fill. After a lighthearted conversation about how horrible the auto car washes are and how I had just spent a couple of days detailing my truck, she assured me it would not be washed.
Went to pick it up and not only had they washed it, they obviously didn't dry it at all and instead pulled it out into the empty front lot (hardly any new cars) and let it bake in the 105 afternoon sun. Water spots on every panel and window. I now know what I will be doing tomorrow.:frusty:

Yeah, I know. But for the first few years I only put a couple thousand a year on it. Besides, Toyota says it's sealed and you never have to touch it.
