    I learned about Templeton about 20 years ago from a Viper pilot from Iowa. It’s really good and several of us have been able to persuade our local liquor stores to carry it. Reportedly Al Capone drank it or something similar during prohibition. At Christmas time the distillery has a Christmas tree of whiskey barrels outside.

    Check the back of the Templeton, I believe the 10 year is actually from their own distillery. The other age statements are from MGP in Indiana.

    Templeton grew so fast they couldn't keep up and outsourced their product.

    Now if you ever get to try the real bootleg version, I would highly encourage it. It is absolutely amazing.

    Good luck unless you have a local that has some connections.

    Definitely, if you can find it its worth the effort.

    Last time a friend's dad went out to the middle of nowhere in the county, found the can, left the money and picked up the bottles the next night.

    It has a great history and honestly in that area during the depression and prohibition, that being made and sold is the only reason the community survived

    Good call!!!!!

    Ok, so my celebrations will begin around 2200 PST. If anyone would like to suggest on how I should celebrate, I'll be taking votes up until that time....

    Here are the options:

    Poor Man's Pappy (a 50/50 combo of Weller's Special Reserve and Weller's Antique 107)... Bottles already opened!!!!
    upload_2023-6-14_13-2-36.jpg

    ....or should I try something new to me: George Dickel or Four Roses Small Batch Select (ignore the EC as it's a Rye and would be inappropriate)

    I think I'd have to go w/the cask strength Knob Creek mainly because of the novelty of it... Which one are you going to crack???

    Well, this thread has been a bust :mad: So, I'll be doing 3 pours...

    I'll start w/the Weller SR;

    followed by the Weller A107;

    followed by the Poor Man's Pappy (50/50 blend of the above)

    Cheers and have a great evening :cheers:

    (we need a dude holding up a glass of whiskey glass emoji for this thread) :hattip:

    I never tried the mixing of the 2 Wellers probably because I didn't have them at the same time. Been off EC for a while and Dickle is not for me but I say crack that Four Roses, I just finished one off and I need another, it's really good.

    Finally found one in a local store. Just tried it and I’d say can’t be beat for $30 a bottle.

    interesting to me how some places make it so hard to obtain certain whiskey. Here in Arizona I can walk into Sam’s club, Walmart, Target or Frys and pick up a bottle of Buffalo Trace for about $25

    Had a nice pour last night, it's not as good as the unfiltered and uncut but it's smokey and sweet but fades away with a little dry notes at the finish.

    Never happen in PA. Stores stock their shelves of eagles rare or Buffalo trace on Tuesday at 2pm by 2:10 they are gone. In MD if you buy a bottle of another bourbon your name is thrown into a drawing and who ever wins that weekly drawing then you could buy the Buffalo Trace.

    That’s no fun at all! The same store that had the eagle rare had a big shipment of Buffalo Trace and Weller SR 1.75L and 750ml in stock at the same time.

    My bad. Didn’t mean to come off that way. I wish everyone had the same odds of finding this stuff. Some states do some weird things with how they withhold liquor.

    I am told my area restocks on Thursday. I got the last bottle of 19 Buffalo Trace at this local store on Thursday around noon.

    I find some of the laws in different states so odd when it comes to alcohol. Reading the last few posts about the Eagle Rare and never having personally tried it, I checked my local grocery stores site. Looks like they carry it and if it's in stock, it's only $34.99.
