How many lbs do I put in my air bags when towing? Trailer weighs 4300 lbs dry. IMG_1128.jpg

25-30 PSI works good for me w/ a ~6000lb trailer and weight distribution hitch. Truck is always right at max payload capacity with my family, our stuff, and the trailer hitched up.

Get yourself a tape measure and keep airing up until the from the ground to the top of the fender is the same on front to back.
You can do it twice if you want, once with no gear and just you (if you drive back and forth from a storage place) and once with everything in it.

Our trailer is probably 6500lbs with everything in it, i run around 35psi in the bags and 5psi when not towing.

Ideally you shouldn't use the bags at all to level. With a properly setup WDH you should be at level then air up bags enough to support/maintain level which for me is 22psi.

After getting my WDH set up properly, I took my bags off. They were a band aid that hindered my rear shock performance more than they helped with the trailer after getting the WDH dialed in.

Similar to what most others have said, I run 25-35 psi in my bags with a trailer that size. However, I adjust them according to trailer weight, rear sag, and towing feel when driving down the road with the trailer attached. Even with a WD hitch dialed in, I still feel like the rear spring rate could be increased so I still air up the bags a bit. But that’s me.

Most of my trailers don’t have provisions for a WD hitch, but they are usually less than 5k lbs so I’m used to the bags doing their fair share of work. Rarely do I exceed 40 psi without a WD hitch.

What kit are you running? I tow a boat often, have a decked system, and a camper shell. I think I need a little help when towing the boat
