Haven’t bought my T yet. Seems the biggest challenge is the rear sag when towing. Would the Sport package be the best considering the stiffer suspension (2,5 Gen). ?

    Best model for towing

Anything with a bulldog on the hood is going to be adequate for any towing scenario you could possibly envision.

May I recommend the 15 liter powersource to sir?

A double cab would most likely get you the best payload (except a reg cab).

Having a properly set up LDH works wonders in the rear sag department.

Depends on what you are towing. A SxS on a utility trailer will be fine for any trim, a small boat is easy enough, but if you are looking at 24'+ travel trailers with slide outs and all the amenities of home then you need to go buy an HD truck because that's going to be a way better suited tow rig than any half ton.

Assuming you are staying within the actual limits of a 1/2 ton; the best thing you can do for sag is use a weight distributing hitch that has been properly set up. That, or get a Trailer Toad or equivalent.

The TRD Pro would be the worst trim for towing as it has softer springs and no rake. Other than that, all the other trims should be pretty much the same.

I tow lighter loads, boat and utility/enclosed trailers, no RVs, but the long bed is nice.

That's good info. I recognize him from an article I've shared on the forum where he says that in certain cases, a 1/2 ton might handle a travel trailer better than some 3/4 tons due to having IFS, nearly the same size brakes, and a lower center of gravity.
I'm guessing it's because Andy commits the grave internet sin of stating that it's ok to be a bit over GVWR when the trailer weight is within what the manufacturer says the truck can handle and neither axle is overloaded.

Very cool. My general rule of thumb is that if I'm within axle limits, then I can't be above GVWR by enough to have any problems at all. Towing is also something I do very rarely. If I bought a truck for the purpose of towing, I'd probably have a different truck.

What are you planning on towing? Where are you planning on towing? High elevation and steep grades make a difference if you are pulling on the big and heavy end of the spectrum. Be mindful of auxiliary transmission coolers, suspension modifications, tire load ratings, differential gear modifications, and supercharged engines. Lots of options.
