Went to Dirty Deeds Monday to have my stock exhaust replaced with their Aluminized steel standard catback exhaust System (5.7L engine). https://dirtydeedsindustries.com/st...minized-steel-standard-catback-exhaust-system I went with the 12" muffler option which is their quietest (Helmholtz resonator installed). From listening to videos, I narrowed it down to 10" or 12". Cruising down the freeway, I can't hear a difference but when you get on it there is a nice rumble. It might be a bit too tame for some, but I like it. The video shows the difference in sound at cold start. I looped a few seconds of stock and catback several times to make it easy to compare before and after. Now my truck doesn't sound like a sewing machine anymore :)
I talked to Keith last week and he walked me through options and tradeoffs. Great information.

I have a 12 and it’s the most stock an aftermarket can be.
We road trip my truck all the time and I’ve never had a complaint regarding noise or drone.
Crack the windows when alone and that skinny pedal makes it wake up.

Yes, even 1/2 throttle (especially at lower RPMs) gets her to wake up and growl a bit. No drone at all.

Keith and company is the best..

I've had an 8", 10" and 12"all with the rez.
10 is the sweetest for me, but I'm glad you like the 12..

The good thing is if you wanted to bump it up to a 10, he'll swap it out for you..

I’ve considered going with a 10, but I bought my 12 used for a super good deal, and by the time I factor in shipping :)rofl:) i know I’ll kick myself if I don’t love it.

Plus you know, after a day with no doors, getting in something relatively quite is nice.

    It's been 27 since I drove a route in a P10, but I do remember..
I started in 1986 a Ford P6 that was made in the 1970s..
Probably a partial reason I now wear hearing aids..:eek2:

Don't be hatin' on the shipping price of the swap.
    I've done it twice...

10 isn't that much louder than the 12.
Both the 10 and 12 are much quieter than the 8 I had.
That 8 had some RASP to it..:burnrubber:

I went from 8 to 12 to stock to 20 - Keith made me a standard system with 20 inch canisters. Even that has some tone to it - more than you might expect given the canister length. Based on my experience with Keith's systems, they all generally sound the same (not a bad thing), but the length determines the amount of rasp and volume. My .02 cents....

Gotta love the sound and service. Good choice. I'm running 22 inch Big Berthas from Keith. Nice and quiet at cruise but wake up when on it! LT headers with 3 inch pipe and single cats help too. Enjoy!

I'm expecting a call from Sarah at Keith's shop this week about what I can expect to pay for shipping both ways. Trading my 20" for a 24", already have Keith's 31" Helmholtz, so that'll stay on the tailpipe as is.

    Still too much?

Another thing to consider is to have Keith build a resonator into the Y pipe and run the tailpipe resonator - basically run 2 resonators. That's my setup - only I have the standard 26" tailpipe resonator - and it works pretty good - for me.

The 24" mufflers will do it. It's as close as it's ever been when pulling the hills towing.

    I've had the 10", 14" and this 20" system, I haven't noticed them getting louder with time/miles.

The mechanic shop owner that did my alignment today asked what exhaust I had because he said it was the best sounding “tame” tundra he had heard. Running the DD12 without resonator currently, but I’m thinking of adding it for towing my camper.

No it’s still on my maybe someday shelf. I don’t go camping as much anymore, and have only put about 2k miles on the truck in the last year or so. Still love the exhaust though.
