So as I have been installing the backup cam, going in and out of the truck, my door lights have stayed on overnight and ran down the battery…

no problem, I just recharged the battery. All is well for now.
But, now I have come up with a question for all you great knowledge guru’s, please?

shouldn’t the panel light dimmer knob (number 22 in the image above) have a positive little bump or catch to let me know the lights are set to full bright? Or is there some other way to set a time out for the lighting upon leaving and locking up the truck???

I did a search for this, but must not know the correct terminology to find this…

Mine is set to full bright but the lights don’t stay on when the doors are closed and things are locked up. I can’t recall if there’s a delay or not. I’d have to check when it gets dark in 3 hours.

Yea, today, I double checked and it was lights out as expected…
So, don’t really know why they were on…

FYI, Cargo light was off also…

My cargo light is the only thing that stays on for 30 seconds now that I recall.

Won't assume if an 02 is same as an 04 but that knob on an 04 goes full CCW(8 o'clock) to decrease and full CW(4 o'clock) to increase. It also controls only the Instrument panel bckgnd lights and Integration Control and Panel(A/C, Heat, Fan knobs....etc). Does not control door courtesy, footwell or Dome light, at least not in an 04.

If you haven't noticed and if it happens again, take note if the open door indicator light is on. Might be a door switch going wonky turning appropriate lights on.

There’s a switch for the front map lights and a switch for the dome light, both overhead. You can turn them both on, on with opening the doors or off. The front map lights are manual on off, or door triggered.
