You may very well be right, but this guy is in East Los at least (Montebello).

At least I think Montebello is considered E.LA

I lived in LA as a kid. Montebello is located east of East LA in western San Gabriel Valley. Back in the 60s I don’t think anyone consider Montebello part of East LA

Today has been a tour of Toyota and after-market resources, trying to get a crash course in getting this gears and locker upgrade done right the first time. Started with my "personal" parts guy at Toyota in Santee. Got exploded diagrams, ordered OEM seals to replace everything between the new stuff and the remaining stuff. Then to the 2nd tied-for-top installer, then to my favourite alignment shop (separate work coming, so I figured I'd ask for a gear referral too), then back to my Toyota parts guy.

Ok, smart people: I got a brief show-stand-tell instruction on where an ECGS bushing would go, and looked at a disassembled component wherein I saw a "needle bearing". Can you explain to me what's better about the ECGS-- it's smooth, no "needles" lining, so I'm guessing (did not have an ECGS bushing for side by side comparison) it's a bit larger, fits more tightly?? Or-?

Meanwhile, the owner of the install shop that was at the top of my list told me he understands why some people want to replace the needle bearing with an ECGS-- especially if running long-travel and driving hard-- but he's a fan of having another OEM needle bearing on hand at install. If the original looks worn, replace it with another OEM.

I gotta admit, as soon as I saw the needle bearing is lined with "needle" shaped spline, I could picture it holding the splines of the end of the part that fits inside to join. I cannot picture why these wouldn't be better than a smooth surface.

    So...

I know y'all are fans of the ECGS, and the Toastmeister even shares the Tool of Goodwill. Can you please drop some wisdom on me?

I definitely wouldn’t put another oem needle bearing back in. ECGS bushing is solid bronze? Maybe and I believe a tighter fit to the axle.
If your pulling and dropping off gears, it’s even more so easy to do, “while your there” kinda thing
Karma drove his truck harder than you probably…….

Ok, I think I'm almost there.

Now I need to know, where do I order the "solid pinion spacer"? Who manufactures it, and where can I buy it?

I think I only need one for the back (because the front is already fairly well protected, am I right)?

Well, you gave your honest opinion. I figure, based on the qualifier, that you offer other, less honest or dishonest, opinions. What are those?

The splines do not ride on the needles, the smooth part of the shaft does. The needles corrode and wear down. The ECGS bushing can’t wear out as it has no needles. It’s impregnated with some kind of lubricant that makes it slippery. It fits tight and helps eliminate play. Worthwhile upgrade while you’re in there. Mine honestly was fine and probably didn’t need replacing. But I was already in there.

I’m pretty well read on TW and this site re ECGS. I know of zero problems with it. Not to say nobody has ever had trouble but I haven’t read about it.

contrast that with countless “vibe” threads where the ECGS bushing solved the problem definitively.

There are not many no brainer mods out there but this is one of them. One and done. Who wants vibes? Not I.

Found a high rise Leer shell off a t100 for basically free. A high rise isn’t my first choice but it’s hard to pass on this deal. Wonder if it’ll fit a dc?

Anyone got any ideas on how I can mount some kind of holder for my 3/8 and 1/2 drive extensions? The female end is about a millimeter larger than the locking collar near the end

Some guy on the Facebook page got a topper for a T100 recently and it seemed to fit great. I don't remember if he had a DC or AC though. Definitely worth a shot.
