Do you run a weight distributing hitch?

You get that set up correctly, and you should not have any appreciable sag. I have waaaayyy more tongue weight and use the same hitch. It’s a good one, but it takes some patience to ensure it’s correct. Not a guessing game, for sure.

So then no need for the Timbrens?

I see you have not received a definitive answer yet for your question. I am interested too - looking for same input before purchase of these or equal (if there are any). If you do go ahead and add please post - it may help me decide. Thanks.

I'm going to buy them. Picking up my new trailer this Thursday and I don't want sag. I'll report back!

I'd be interested in the install - how difficult / tools needed...... looks like the oem springs and bump stops have to come off for the product to be installed? GL with the mode. will keep an eye out for your report and review of them.

any news to report? Thinking I may go with the T83MR (4800 lb version)

Edit: Purchased and installed T83MR on my Gen3 Tundra. They were added for additional protection from bed sag due to additional weight placed in the bed on the truck. Weight Distribution is not what I am addressing or concerned with.

For my needs these work perfect - no interaction when no additional loading and when camping gear is added to the bed they reduce sag and don't affect the ride. There is 1.5 inches of clearance between the axel seat and the bottom of the Timbren before engagement. No harsh bounce or ride whether bed is loaded or not.

Install was simple and easy - oem bump stops can be removed with wheels on and not jacked off the ground, and the new T83MR's can installed after. Simple 15 minutes per side.

Timbrens don't keep your truck from having that "loaded down" sagging. The rear of the truck should compress when weight is added. When your truck compresses far enough, it can hit the factory rubber bump stops which is a bit jarring. Timbrens are larger, squishier bump stops to support those last 4-6 inches of travel better to keep you from bottoming out as harshly. If you wanna eliminate sag, airbags are the way. I worry less about the sagging from an aesthetics angle, and more about it from a functional angle. If I'm loading up the tongue weight and need weight distribution hitch, I probably need to adjust my hitch if it looks saggy. That being said, 550# isn't a lot. My truck doesn't sag much with only 550#.

    Working on it.
I would recommend the Roadmaster Suspension system over the Timbrens. The Roadmasters have also improved the unloaded handling of my truck.

    he has coils.

Timbrens just sound painful, they require sag to engage. Sumos are stiffer enough and they are more progressive than timbrens

I haven't purchased them. I ran out of time to purchase and install them before I had to pick up my travel trailer.

New TT has a Husky WDH, that thing is pretty beefy and I had no rear end sag when towing. Decided since there didn't seem to be a problem I'd skip the Timbrens for now.

Maybe it's like @KNABORES says - 550 lb hitch weight won't cause sag?

I’m new here but I’ve been towing travel trailers for quite a few years.
I don’t understand why folks feel the need to add timbrens, air bags, etc to haul a travel trailer.
A properly set up weight distribution hitch will solve the trailer sag issue and when you unhitch the trailer you’re back to normal with your truck!
If you want to add aftermarket equipment no problem, your truck, your choice.
I’m just saying that a good WD hitch will level the truck out just fine plus it transfers weight to the front axle where your steering and brakes are so critical!
This is just one man’s opinion so please take it with a grain of salt :)

From my experience with sumo springs, the trailer is not why i got them. The wdh can help with the tongue weight all day, but the issue is all the gear you put in the bed. IMO thats why we want the helper springs

    Lots of stuff!
I think the Timbrens offer some support for towing squat. I have them in but after trying the regular stiffness, I tried the softer rubbers and still had a bit of a harsher ride when unloaded. I took them out for running around empty.

The 3 gen suspensions like my TRD OR setup does move quite a bit where as the previous leaf spring setup with Timbrens would be better for limiting squat.

I am going to put my Timbrens back in for a camping trip coming up. I also have a WDH so between these 2, I should have minimized the squat.

Adding air bags seems to be a good choice and doesn't affect the ride when unloaded as you can just air them down.
