I have had a Tri-fold on my last two trucks and live in northern New York in the lake effect snow belt. My tri fold has never sagged even from several feet of snow. Can’t speak to a roll up. I will be buying a tri-fold for my new Tundra soon.

It's brand new, been on the truck less than 48 hours. It showed up on day 2.

If anyone is wondering if you can fit a motorcycle (21” front wheel) in the bed without removing the Truxedo Pro X 15 you definitely can! I am really loving this cover. IMG_4312.jpg

Weird, over night it went back to this from the white lines.

How long of a wait? Does it leak?
There’s not a ton of YouTube out there for this cover (other than renegade) and one that I did see showed leaks.
I asked the video guy what was leaking and am still waiting.

I’m really really wanting to buy this cover as it’s perfect for my needs, but I haven’t heard a lot of good about renegade.

just curious as to your wait times, and overall thoughts?

Plan for a really long wait. Website showed 12weeks when I ordered it (which was Oct 28th and just got it the other day when I made this post.
The wait is certainly the bad part of this.
I have gotten a little moisture in the bed when it rains hard but it’s been pretty minor. I’ll try and get some videos for you if it decides to rain here again!

Yikes it took 3x as long as they said. 9 months. That’s crazy. Must be a one man show, or a couple guys doing this part time.

I really like the cover, and I think it’s more thought out than diamondbacks tri fold.

it holds more weight, and the cab panel folds up (making it a clamshell in addition to a flip cover). I also like the ability to place the tie downs exactly where you want, and when you don’t need em take them off and the cover is a nice sleek look.

    but the wait……..

Any tailgate seal suggestions? I tried the ESI bulb seal. Maybe I installed wrong but the tailgate doesn’t close as well and water still gets in after going through a high pressure car wash test. Any suggestions or insight that works for you greatly appreciate the advice!

Nice! I just ordered the Lo Pro. Had one on my 2021 for two years without a single leak or issue.

Undercover Armorflex: You can use the factory cargo tie downs, just can't make them sliding. Unscrew the big knob, use a flare nut on the factory bolt, position where you want and tighten down.

I had some nyloc nuts and stainless flat washers and worked like a charm. Installed all 4 that came with the truck. Thanks for that idea.20230903_145124.jpg

Sorry if this has already been covered. How does the Retrax Pro XR hold up when doing moderate to heavy off-roading?

Looks really nice! Quick question on the RetraxOne install, can you retain our factory rails/tie downs? On their website there is a box to check for "with factory rails" and "without" for our trucks. Does the Retrax sit above the factory rails or do you move them down a bit? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can keep the factory rails. The cover mounts on top, rails don’t get removed. Only thing that gets temporary removed is a small cap at the tailgate end of the rail so you can slide tonneau cover brackets in the rail, then put the cap on the rail.

Sweet, great to know the OEM rails are retained! I am between the RetraxOne MX and Pro XR. I don't need to install racks over the cover, and all the reviews sound like the polycarbonate is strong a durable enough -and it's $500 less. Did you go with the Pro XR for the aluminum/strength aspect or for adding racks above the cover? Thanks again for the pics and your info!

I went with the XR for strength since I live in the north, heavy snow. Also for additional security. My only complaints, not water tight… and in the winter it ices up and won’t retract at times.

My X4S had the same white lines which basically disappeared after a few days. Not sure I would go with the X4S again due to the below 2 issues:
    1. After 6 months I am still cleaning out aluminum shavings that fall into my bed. There was a ton when it was brand new but I keep finding them. The aluminum shavings make me paranoid they are going to fall into the stroller or get into other kid things I am hauling around and my kid is going to accidentally eat them.
    2. The plastic corners fall off every time I roll it up. This is a terrible design and I cannot believe this was what they settled on. I am planning to glue them on at this point.

I emailed BAK about these issues and they didn't have too much to say other than they would send me a new cover which will probably have the same issues, definitely will still have the plastic corner issue and if the shavings are still there I will have to start over on the cleanup. Considering asking them if they will swap it for an Armor Flex now that I see there is a way to use the factory tie downs in the rails that @dekeman & @G3ardnut figured out.

There is also another hard tri-fold cover out there that has its own mounting rail system and provides brackets that allows you to lower the existing factory tie down rail to it so you can use the factory tie downs. The tie towns with this cover can be moved and not fixed like in my case. I did not know this cover even existed until a few days ago when I saw it on this forum. It is made by Tonnoflip. Cost is lower than Armor Flex and they provide a lifetime warranty. I really don't know what long term durability of the Tonnoflip cover is but it looks pretty good. The hardware to secure the cover at the front of the bed uses a T-bolt configuration which probably cause less distortion to the the top of the cover when clamped down. The underside uses a thumb wheel style clamp on the underside like most other covers. See link below.

I have not had issues yet with the corners, but gluing them on seems like an easy fix

I didn't have a ton of shavings at all from the x4s, but I also don't have a concern as I'm past the stroller phase . However! I went through two MX4s and they both had a ton of shavings. They eventually swapped my MX4 out for the X4s and I am really happy with it.

Love the bed cover, do you mind if I ask how much of the bed this takes up in the front? I'm just trying to decide myself. I have a long bed 6.5' and want to put my atv in bed, but I'd like to find something that doesn't take up much room.

I know this is an older post however how are you liking the cover? I'm trying to choose between this and the X4s.

    Follow up:

Have had that Retrax Pro XR (T-80861) since February and I absolutely love it. My favorite addition to the truck so far. I'm in and out of the bed constantly, and the retracting feature is very convenient, especially compared to manually flipping back the cover like with my Silverado.

Did have an issue with it not closing properly, but thankfully Rack Attack (where I purchased from) took care of me thanks to warranty

Otherwise it's been great for off-roads, trails, hauling stuff, and works great with the bed extender. It does eat up space but that's what the bed extender is for!

A++ product, especially if it lasts another ten years.

Looks good! I have a Honda TRX 450r Race quad and I got this cover just so I could roll it up and still have my quad in the back and close the tail gate! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy I got the 6.5', These covers are nice for sure!

I had a Retrax on my F250, but I was concerned about losing so much bed space on the Tundra. How much bed space does the roll canister eat on our trucks?

Enough that I recommend getting a bed extender.

I'm able to store my go-bag/emergency stuff under the canister: rope, hitch, straps, etc. But I have 100% gotten my money's worth from the bed extender.

Was this with the mx4 cover? Just curious if the hoses are the same or do different manufacturers use different sizes?
