The point of the thread was she bought a truck for the 38 gallon, the idiots at the dealer assured her that it was a 26, so she came to hear for verification. Now that she has picked her truck up, we can see that she has the 38. Nothing worthless about it.

My “Lol” was for you asking to measure, clearly 38 galllon tank, not sure about the dealership.

*edit* - saw you added it was the 38 gal after my post. Lol.

Mine is a 38 gal. And is around 405-410 miles to empty when full. These trucks are thirsty

Yep...lol. I wanted her to measure it when I saw the first picture from the rear and then she posted the other pic.

    Too many, but not enough....
My 26 gallon shows 310 miles to empty everytime I fill it. It's pretty accurate for me at around 15 mpg avg

Same with mine. 409 is my consistent number. I just went from 285"s to 295's so it might change lol. I just installed a speedo calibrator because the 295s threw it off. I didn't look at it that close with the 285's.

Yes, I have the SR5 upgraded package TRD with the center console. My window sticker clearly states 38 gallons.

Me too! The service manager does not know his cars or Toyota’s. Even the service technician as well. I don’t know how they can even work for Toyota.

Funny thing is, that’s why I took it into the dealer to verify it. And look what happened they don’t even know how to verify it and just speculate.

It was worthless because their were 3 pages of speculation and the OP couldn't provide any useful information about the gas tank. One picture from the OP and it would have been put to bed. I read through the thread because I wanted to help answer the OPs question.

I am glad that the OP was able to eventually get an answer.

I was always taught that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything:). You didn’t have to read through it all and you didn’t give any advice either. I’m very thankful to the guys who did offer advice.

    My 26-gallon shows 315 on a fillup and I get 13.9.
But if I disconnect the battery, it will show 415 until I run a few tankfuls of gas thru it...

    Welcome to the forum @Dddd

What you're missing is, the fuel gauge is not capable of measuring gallons as though it was metering them. The only thing the gauge measures is how high the level of the fuel is in the tank. For argument's sake, let's look at two tanks the same width & depth. Between a 26 gal and a 38 gal tank the only real difference between them would be that, the 38 gal tank is almost 1.5 times the length of the 26 gal one. Because the height of both tanks is the same, one could easily use the same fuel gage and either tank would read accurately on the fuel gauge on the instrument panel. In either case the gauge would only tell you when the tank was half full. It would never be able to tell you how many gallons were left in the tank. That information would be on the digital readout, which would be calculated by the computer, based on how many gallons the computer has been told that the tank is capable of holding.[/QUOTE]

You've got that backwards son. Take the total miles you drove and divide it by the gallons consumed. If you drove 100 miles and consumed 20 gallons, you only got 5 miles per gallon. 100 miles/20 gallons = 5mpg. Yer Welcome
