Wrong size gas tank installed in my 2021 Tundra TRD SR5 crew max

I've never seen higher than 445 miles to empty on my 38 gallon tank and i just rolled over 26000 miles on it.

 

Reset your A & B trip odometers, and then unhook your battery for 30+ minutes, with a full tank of fuel. Hook the battery back up, tada, you can get up to 500+ miles to the tank to read on the screen! It won't go that far, but it'll certainly say it!

Yeah that's resetting values. No need to do that because as you keep driving the number goes down. Mine fluctuates between 410-445 depending on the season and how i drive. Plus truck is lifted with 35s

 

How many gallons have you put in at most?

 

Oh that i have no idea to be honest. I've never really ran it empty. I think the lowest was 1/4 when i filled up.

 

For me: almost 31 gal (dropping fuel on the ground) and driving close to 30 miles past low fuel indicator

 

The most mines have ever taken almost empty is 24 gallons with around reads around 20 miles left.

 

Mine says anywhere from 455 - 495, I get 15.5 to 16.5 mpg

This frosts me! My 21 SR5 with the bench seat has a 26 gallon. So sick of the stealerships bs! I don't have it in front of me but I'm pretty sure my stuff says 38!

 

If you have the front bench seat and column shifter, then you don’t have the SR5 upgrade package which is the package that comes with the 38gal tank.

 

Then why does everything from everywhere say it's an SR5? I feel like Toyota really dropped the ball here or this truck was ordered weird. I can't find where is says the actual tank size either, I just know because of the 320 miles and the 2 strap thing.

 

The SR5 Upgrade is a package that's available on the SR5 trim level. They're two different things.

 

Not every SR5 has the upgrade package. Most of them do. Your truck is a rare bird. To be honest, I wish I had the front bench seat.

I wonder what percentage of 38gal Tundra owners get under their truck specifically to verify the tank size after being thrown off by the wild underestimated range and early empty indications on the gauge cluster. I sure did!
