Do you mean - when you floor it, only one rear wheel spins instead of both rear wheels?

No that would b posi traction I thought limited slip would stop or slow down the wheel so u would get better traction

Sorry I mis understood the last Tex. I am wondering why any wheel would spin when u get on it I thought limited slip would control the wheel that’s spinning aggressively and slow it down for better traction

That’s how it’s supposed to work, but there are other factors to account for like how much/little traction is available to each wheel.

Positraction IS a limited-slip differential. Positraction was simply a General Motors brand name.

You should be able to get both tires to spin with a limited slip differential. With a locker, Lincoln locker (welded differential), or a spool you WILL spin both.

    ^^^This would be traction control^^^

Limited Slip means both rear wheels will pull (spin) if you get on the throttle. A great way to see this is comparing the two in the rain. I used to have a non-limited slip in a Silverado years ago and it would not go anywhere if you had to pull out in the rain on a hill, one tire would spin easily when giving it the gas. So I ordered a limited slip differential and installed it. If one wheels starts to spin, it will lock the differential so that both wheels now get traction instead of only one. It gets much better traction with limited slip. If you do a burn out, like your title said, without limited slip, it leave one black line...with limited slip, it leaves two.

This may have been said but I think it helps to compare all three systems for clarity

Auto Limited Slip used brakes (traction control) to slow the spinning wheel that does not have good traction. This is the Tundra Auto Limited Slip. Both tires might spin together if there is low traction and lots of power.

Posi or Limited Slip differential uses clutch packs in the differential to send a more even amount of power to each wheel but does not fully lock the two wheels together. They may spin together on slippery surfaces or when doing a burn out but that is different from locking. This system is good because you can make turns and the clutch packs will slip enough to let the truck turn and not buck. I wish Tundra came with this option because it works awesome on rain and snow covered roads without needing 4x4.

Locking differential does what it says. It locks the two wheels together. Years ago the Detroit Locker was a favorite but it bucked and made tight turns difficult. Very popular in drag racing and serious off roading. This is similar to the Tundra electric locking differential that comes with the TRD OR Pkg and can only be used in 4Lo

Hope this helps clear up the three types of differentials.

No. Posi(traction) and limited slip will behave exactly the same. Posi(traction) is simply a GM brand name for limited slip.

You said that they would behave differently. You said “1 tire spins its limited slip...posi is both.”

OP, your truck does not have an LSD rear end. No 2022's do to my knowledge. You may have Auto-LSD, which as previously described is not an LSD at all, but part of the traction control system. It will use the brakes to help control wheel spin, but can certainly be overpowered by stabbing the gas. You may also have the optional locker with the TRD Offroad package. Neither of these is active unless you specifically activate them. The locker is only available in 4Lo as I understand it and the Auto-LSD has to be activated by pushing the button on the dash. If you just hopped in and put it in drive and stabbed the gas, one wheel peel it is.

I will say, when you put it in sport +, I have no doubt it would torch them if you wanted to, its goat a ton of low end torque at low RPM
