So... does anyone know how to get the 5th tire position to point to SP for spare? I think/hope that if that can be changed then I could be prompted to enter a 5th tire ID when registering. Not wanting to get Techstream out each time I rotate 5 tires and have to keep track of each ID. Well I guess Discount can do that each time but I seen it on YouTube with other vehicles (Yaris was one) that you could enter 5 ID's and have 2 sets of ID's, one for summer and one for winter tires.

@Jeff_5_7 - you’re not with Biodynamics Research Corporation are you? I have some friends that worked there.

No but we work with them at times, they know of our company. We do more of the speed, impact location, change in velocity stuff and they do more of the how bad are your injuries actually. Validate the medical claims.

My assumption is that the TPMS ecu can store 5 it will just require some programming signals sent to the ecu that Techstream can’t do. I have read about a guy programming his for 5 from 4 using very specific messages on the communication network.

I spent the last few days testing this and finally figured it out this evening. I have a 2014 TPMS ecu I experimented with first.

It uses an older KWP protocol and it took a lot of reverse engineering with Techstream but I was able to program it to 5 tires.

After that I was able to put the 2018 TPMS ecu on the bench and play with it. It took a while also but I found a reprogramming CAN messages to switch from 4 to 5 tires.

Once I had it set to 5 tires I used the Techstream write location utility to set the 5th tire to the spare.

All of this was done with custom communication messages, there is no option in Techstream.

Now the only question is will the newer one display all 5 on the cluster. I have no way to test that currently I don’t think but I will play with it more Tommorow

That is just sweet! Would love to mod the cluster!

If someone wants to mail me there TPMS ecu out of a 2018+ I can set it or 5 tires and we can see if that makes the 5th one come up on the cluster screen.

Assuming yours shows the factory four already.

Will this work on my 2013? Do I need to get an 18 TPMS ECU to do it?
