Agreed...I have room for 3 more lp9's and at least two more s8's behind the grill and then some xl linkable lights on the roof rack haha. I really don't even need what I've got currently.

 

Sweet looking build and lighting setup @STraivs. The Backlighting on the LP and S8 line definitely looks killer when on. Let me know if you have any questions about the LP4s or need help with an order. I'm always interested in getting the Tundra forum users all set up.

We have talked before, but these are the best up close pictures of your bumper that i have seen. I like it even more now.

 

Does anybody have an opinion on the lensun hood solar panels vs. the cascadia hood solar panels?

I'm looking to upgrade the main battery to a group 31 agm with some solar so I can run a few accessories at camp without worrying about a dead battery. I used the weBoost a few times at camp this weekend and the truck started up pretty weakly even though it's a fairly new battery.

 

I think those are a cool idea but it doesn't seem like you get a lot of output for how expensive they are and they're only going to work if the hood of your truck is in full sun. You can get a portable folding panel and controller for much less $ that will have more output and can be easily positioned to get maximum sunlight.

That said, the cascadia one looks nicer and they're based in canada instead of china so support is probably better.

 

Yeah they are spendy, but it's one less thing that I would have to pack or find a place to store. And if it's on the hood I would always have it. And the mppt style controllers work pretty well in partial sun I've found. The draw on the battery won't be too much with the cell booster and few things I need to run.

 

Sounds like it would work pretty well for your situation. Always there and ready to go is definitely a plus.

 

I used a generic Lensun, 33.5x28, on my 4Runner and it has been working out great for 2/5 the price of the vehicle specific ones. Like you said, very convenient to just have hooked up all the time, I use it to keep my dual batteries topped off. Best pic I could find lol.

 

Did some maintenance and a full inspection of the truck preparing for our summer trip we have coming up.
Oil change, air filter and spark plugs. I also finally tracked down a rattle in my front end. My uca bolt loosened up on the driver's side. Tightened it up and it's all good again. No damage to the bushings.

Update on the tires?

 

I still like them. They have worn a little more quickly than I had hoped, but I attribute it to my loose uca and a funky alignment for a bit. I also slacked off a bit and waited to long to rotate them. Traction has always been good though. For the money I will definitely buy them again, but maybe in a different size.

 

What size you thinking?

I’m looking to replace my Patagonia MTs that wore to almost 50% in the front in less than 7k miles which is insane. Not too happy with them.

 

I'm looking at going to a 39x12.50.

Yeah it should be cool. We'll see when it actually happens, I want it to be sooner than later but I don't want to pull off useable tires and have them sitting in the way at the shop. We have a 4x4 expo coming up in a couple weeks that we'll have a couple trucks at and it would be cool to have them then.

I don't think it will be too much work to get them to fit. Probably a body mount relocation, hammering the firewall a bit, or a small firewall tub if that won't clear. And then possibly taking about an inch out of the fender depending on where it stuffs.

 

That sounds like less effort than it takes to stuff 37's or even 35's on a Tacoma!

I had 37's on my Tacoma and I'm expecting the same amount of work for 39's on this one. It's not too terrible really.

 

I have a few updates for the tundra, but I'll wait until later in the week to post them all at once.
I also went and picked up a single cab shop truck yesterday. It's an 08 single cab with a facelift and a TRD supercharger. I have some plans for it, but we'll see how long the "build" takes to get started. I'll probably start another thread for that one.

 

To those that have @STravis rear dual swing out bumper, do you guys happen to have BSM in the rear?

Can we disable the rear BSM or how do we go about it if our Tundra come equipped with BSM?

 

I disabled mine. Just remove the computers on both side and disconnect from the harness. No light on dash and no warning sound.
