Note "Aisin" is pronounced "eye-ee-sheen" but more quickly, so it sounds almost like "eyesheen". Although they may pronounce it wrong at the place you're dealing with too, so saying it correctly may not help. :D

I'm jumping in late here but when I had my 1st gen I replaced everything with the aisin kit twice. Never had a problem and I abused that truck. It was a beast. Sold it to a friend who is loving the truck and it's still going strong with well over 300k miles.

Hope it's legit. Often times things off fleaBay coming from Los Angeles, NYC, or Miami (i.e. major port cities) are complete knockoffs or contain knockoffs or grey market items. YMMV, but ... I wouldn't trust buying "OEM" anything on fleaBay unless you know it's coming directly from a dealership, and is boxed as such. And definitely not on a part that, if faulty, has a high chance of bricking your engine.

It's probably fake knockoff parts in fake toyota packaging. If you look at the sellers other items for sale. There is no way he can sell 6 OEM Denso/Toyota coil packs for a Toyota 5.7 for $140.99. Why would he sell 6 coil packs for a 8 cylinder engine. Does he think it's 6 cylinder?

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/386102525663?epid=81294009

8 AC Delco iridium spark plugs for $19.99. No way. Those spark plugs are $12 each at Autozone

Yup, it's knockoffs. Location: China. Account:8wks old Guess their old account got banned/flagged for fakes.

@whodatschrome this is why we warn everyone not to buy off fleaBay and scAmazon. Organized crime out of APAC has resources that are incredibly good at making absurdly authentic-looking knockoffs. Never buy parts off any source that lacks a verified supply chain!

Nice thanks for that! When you say replaced everything, you mean just everything that comes in the kit right?

Thank you all for the heads up and the warnings. I’m pretty sure i can still return my Wang Chung ebay timing belt kit. I’ll start my search again for a different kit.

I started a return with the ebay timing belt kit i bought. So the kits that are sold on Rock and Summit...do i need to buy anything else separately, or is that everything that i need?

I’m thinking maybe i should install a new thermostat and acc belt at the same time. Which ones does everyone recommend?

Both sellers look legit. Long time seller on ebay. Lots of Toyota/Nissan/Honda small inexpensive parts listed for sale that would not be worth the effort to make fakes.

$80 for an Aisin H2O pump on Rockauto is plenty impetus to buy OEM quality for that item.

    Aisin t-stat.

Accessory belt, I don't like all of Gates products, but they do make some Delco products (I come from a GM history), and the green HD acc/drive belt is what myself and a number of others are using.

And yes on the kit from Summit and RA. Just make sure you get the kit ending in '021', not the one ending in '001'.

Just did this job with this kit. They give you new waterpump bolts but only the short ones. There is no square gasket that comes with the kit, you use the FIPG stuff to make that one.

Edit- the Asain kit one was the one I used and am referencing. They do not give a square gasket but do give bolts.

I'm one of them running the HD belt. No problems here.

Also, because no one has posted it yet and there seems to be a number of questions about which kits and parts are needed, here's my obligatory timing belt thread link.

whew...all those individual parts really added up! Here i originally thought i was going going to buy a timing belt kit that included a couple idler pulleys, belt, and a water pump. It’s now Monday afternoon and i have that Aisin timing belt kit, fan pulley bracket, the 3rd idler pulley, thermostat (and gaskets), green Gates fan belt, and whatever else i forget to mention all ordered up. All the parts were ordered from Summit, Rock auto, and online from my local toyota dealer. I don’t mind spending $$$ to make my junk more reliable, but this catch me off guard a little bit...especially all the time i spent researching online!
