    I won't comment on what they gave me, but let's just say it's good enough to have me napping and nodding off every other hour.

    You know how a joke isn't as funny if you've got to explain it? I think newbie got confused, and maybe intended to post his 1st reply here, which was all pics and no measurements, in the "let's see your 1st gen" because it was off-topic, given the lack of fender-hub and fender-ground measurements. A little ribbing was in order for drifting OT. Now you and I both deserve ribbing for carrying it even further OT.

    This thread has been helpful. This 05 DC just had the suspension lift reduced from a 3” front w/ 1” block lift to a more stock level to avoid damaging driveline and front end components. Front is OME 90004 strut w/ ARB 2883 spring. Rear is stock leaf w/ Bilstein 5100.

    After settling,

    FD 20.5”
    FP 20.875”

    RD 21.875”
    RP 21.875”

    TLDR; OME damping is great on this monotube strut but the coil selection process can be pricey and a lot of work for a 1st gen Tundra.


    I can only comment on road and gravel driving feel of the OME struts so far, which is very well damped. I suspect they would be best for the 500lb/in springs on a 3rd Gen 4Runner this setup was adapted from.
    The coating required refinishing after ~5 Canadian winters but that went well as the underlying steel had not pitted too aggressively.
    ARB has great customer support IMO, but could not give a recommendation on a build for this vehicle. So the biggest difficulty was doing the calculations for coil sets, then unstacking and reinstalling springs until I got the ride height the truck needs. I went from a 2888 (405mm) to a 2884 (392mm) to a 2883 (378mm) spring. A variable spring perch height or adjustable pre-load would have made this easier but both those can bring trade-offs in corrosion durability and especially strut $ remembering the Nitrocharger is their entry level product. And the top hat + spring isolator (poly) are borrowed and throw uncertainty into the actual spring preload. I may try another combo with Rubber isolators to get a slightly more level stance.

    We hit a lot of similar issues with trying to figure out lift etc. so we all came together and pooled collective experience, and have quite a bit of input on coil selection over here in the 'suspension, wheel & tire' section which is dedicated to 1st gen info. I think the issue is what you alluded to, i.e. OME doesn't make kits for our truck and probably has limited info on adaptation. Well, we've done the work and I think you'll find more info here than anywhere else.

    RE: Poly isolators ... members on here have had issues with poly isolators in lifted setups, isolator blowing out totally, or at minimum deforming pretty significantly. Not sure it's worth it. You may find more joy and comfort, less noise going w/rubber.

    I was wondering that myself but as I never owned the vehicle with stock suspension I can’t compare.



    I can however measure against the service specification pages SS-62 and SS-63 for this Canadian market truck with body code, UCK41L. That table is tire size specific but generally says that if you measure up to the forward LCA pivot, A and subtract the ground height of the axle, B then A-B should be 55 mm give or take 2 mm. My truck measures 47 mm, so about a 3/8 inch drop from stock.

    in my first post I said about 20.5” center wheel to fender, and through combing these forums that’s probably about stock height for a trd off road model. More importantly for me, this keeps the CV angle at 5 degrees so the boots should not be compromised. I am considering going back to my 2884 springs except they lifted about 1.5 inches more than the 2883 and caused a 10 degree Cv angle.

    There’s more to this, and a small list of calculations. You see the 2883 coils I bought have, mean diameter of 3.753 inch, 9.5 active coils, spring wire diameter of 0.655 inch so I figure the actual spring rate should be around 530 lb. Of the three sets of ARB springs I own none of them match with 590 lb/in as advertised. I don’t have a spring dyno to confirm on but they range 528 to 552 lb/in by calculation. This matters a lot for the preload when you’re compressing them between 2.2 and 3.6 inch to mount on the strut.

    so in my experience between 2883, 2884 and 2888 springs I never got the lift others reported on forums. I did learn a lot through trial and error however.

    IMG_4491.jpg 2005 V8 Access Cab 4x4. Measured with about 250lbs in bed with topper and gear, 1/4 full gas tank. Tires are 33.4” in circumference (LT255/85r16). SPC Upper control arms. 6112 front shocks using c-clip 6/4, 6 on Drivers and 4 on passenger. HD90-221 rear springs and 5160 rear shocks. Stock hardware and mounting locations. No before measurements, but with same model/weight you can subtract your measurements from mine to calculate lift expectations.

    DF hub 22”, DF ground 37”.
    DR hub 22.5”, DF ground 38”
    PF hub 22.25 , PF ground 37.5”
    PR hub 22.5”, PR ground 37.75”

    '01 AC 2WD. Front: 5100's w/ARB 2885's on lowest setting and 1stGenOffroad 1/4" shim on drivers side: 23 1/2" both sides.


    Rear: 5100's w/ ATS 90-287HD leaves: 23 7/8".

    *Note: if you have no additional weight in front such as bumper & winch, live where potholes are common or do moderate-to-heavy off-roading, I would not recommend this set-up. Specifically the front. The 2885's and 5100's will feel harsh, even on the lowest setting. This set-up is intended for open-road driving. If your usage meets this criteria, it's confidence-inspiring and smile-inducing.
