Album Art on the Screen

Is there any way to get the album art to come on the screen when listening to music?

Sometimes it puts the album art, sometimes a generic band pic, and sometimes a stock picture of whatever genre you’re listening to in my experience…

 

Doesn’t it depend on what you’re listening to? SiriusXM does when cover art is available…I haven’t tried Spotify, Apple Music, etc.

 

There are some settings deep in the menu about album art. They may differ depending on whether you’re referring to album art for the radio, your phone or a streaming service.

 

I play spotify exclusively and I have found it depends on whether or not spotify has album art for it. If it doesn't, it will display nothing at all, or something generic. I was wondering about this myself, so I had the spotify app open on my phone to see if album art was displayed on my phone when it wasn't on my screen. Every time there was nothing displayed, there was also nothing on my phone in the spotify app.

 

In my 2020 Tacoma, it wouldn't show radio album art (Siriusxm) when driving. It would only show when stationary. Anything in CarPlay would show album art all the time.

 

I'm a dinosaur that listens to music that I own, stored on my phone. I use the power amp app through android auto. Power amp does a really good job of recognizing albums and hunting down album art, even on really obscure stuff.

 

I’m similar to you in this regard. I have a ton of live albums stored on an iPod. Even if there’s album art the screen shows nothing or the stock photo

 

Hey bud. Pretty sure I know you if you’re in the Denver area. I have tried everything I can think of and it still does generic art. It’s weird. Does it in my wife’s Highlander too.

 

For newer trucks you could try the magic box. Haven’t tried it myself, but it’s supposed to link CarPlay wirelessly.
