Has anyone put the 17” TRD Pro wheels on a 3rd Gen in here?

I’m looking for a black lug nut that will work on these? Preferably an OEM black lug nut but if I have to go aftermarket I will…

Also interested if any that has done this have pics of the poke on these?

I just priced the bronze set of these for my truck, they sell the black lugs that come with the 20" TRD rims that will fit.

I've been looking for some 18" bronze. I found some out of Texas on Ebay. What was your quote, and where did the quote come from? Thanis in advance.

Mine were 17" bronze from a 4runner. It was about 1600 straight from my local dealer.

Not sure if you found some lugnuts but I used these with my rims. Fit was perfect and they don't stick out.

take the part number and look for them online… That’s WAYYYYY too much, you should be able to find them for $225ish a wheel at online dealers…

Find the cheapest one and go to your local dealer and see if they will price match so you don’t have to pay for shipping… $400/wheel is crazy for those!!!

thanks but those won’t work on the Tundra because that’s M12 thread and the Tundra is M14 thread… I’ll check and they must have the same thing in M14…

How does the socket work for them? It doesn’t scratch the lugs does it? Thanks for the response…

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
Not necessarily. You have to consider center bore diameter and brake clearance. That website seems to be familiar with Tundras as they do list rims compatible with the new gen, I would assume they do not correctly fit. It’s not like they are trying to upsell you since their 18” are like $200-250.

Spacers could potentially "fix" a fit issue. I run these wheels on my wife's 4Runner. I could see if they fit on the Tundra when I swap to winter tires, but that will be a few weeks.

10-4, I assumed (probably incorrectly) that their 17" were the same as factory spec 4runner rims. I am likely going to be ordering the 18" Tundra rims from there shortly, but preferred the style of the others if they did happen to fit.

Yeah I had saw that awhile ago too. That has chrome lugs on it and I found those but hoping to find a black set but coming up empty.

I ordered the chrome ones cause I’m having the wheels and tires don’t this weekend and needed to make sure I had a set that would for sure work.

If they will clear the calipers then yes they can be used, the other user would be the offset…

They definitely fit you just need a hub centric ring to center the wheel on the hub because the wheel has a bigger hole than the hub size on the new Tundras.

They don’t need a spacer because of the offset they will have a little poke to them but not bad…

The biggest issue is finding a m14 lug nut what will fit the lug holes in the rims. Most of them are too big to fit. I was hoping to find a black set but I have found a chrome set that will work for now til I find a black set…

Get some ColorLugs, they have different sizes to fit your needs. They work well, are cheap, and will make your lugs black (or another color if you want)

Seems like the width would be problematic for most 35s as well. At least if you want to follow mfr specs.

Guessing pretty much every if not all 17" wheel 35s spec a minimum rim width bigger than 7"

Man, these look so rad on this gen Tundra!

I think back in my Tacoma days @FNWheels did a 17x8? TRD Pro replica that they’d just offer direct sales on and weren’t featured on their website.. hmmmm

This is correct. There are a couple of 35x10.50R17 tires out there which are skinny enough to be installed on 7" wide wheels, but the majority of popular 35" tires are going to be 11.50" or wider and are going to require 7.5" or 8"+ minimum rim widths.

The other thing to consider is that those OEM 17x7" 4Runner TRD Pro wheels aren't load rated for the Tundra. A fifth generation 4Runner has a much lighter GVWR than a third (or even second) generation Tundra.

Larger tires also put more stress and load on the wheel and in particular tires that are too wide or too tall on a wheel that has too narrow of a rim width.

As has already been mentioned in this thread, the offset of the 4Runner wheels is a little too low and the center bore isn't the same (but the center bore can be corrected with 106mm to 95mm hub centric rings).

In my opinion, these wheels aren't a good fit at all for the Tundra and could possibly be a safety hazard when installed on a vehicle on as heavy as the Tundra, particularly with larger tires. The design sure does look good on the Tundra though!

Thanks! :thumbsup:We still make the FX Pro, but we don't market it for the 2022+ Tundra because the specs are tailored more to the 4Runner/FJ Cruiser/Tacoma and first generation Tundra.

    https://www.fnwheels.com/store/product/fn-wheels-fx-pro/

We do offer an 18" version of the FX Pro in 5x150 and with a much higher load rating for the 2nd Gen Tundra.

We've had requests from customers who are interested in the 17" FX Pro for the 3rd Gen Tundra. We recently developed two new 17" models for the 3rd Gen Tundra, neither of which look like the FX Pro or 4Runner Pro wheels, but which have special features that we researched and developed so that the 17" wheels would work perfectly on the new Tundra. More info about those wheels is located at this link (if you guys want to read about) : https://www.fnwheels.com/17-five-star-and-six-shooter-new-fitments-available-now/

I mention this because now that we have completed the R&D for a special 17" flow formed barrel which fits properly over the Tundra brakes, we can apply that to the FX Pro design and develop a 17" version of the FX Pro that fits correctly and safely on the Tundras rather than using wheels that were intended for other (lighter) vehicles.

If you guys are interested let me know, and maybe we can get a special intro order / group buy going for the wheels. It takes about 6 months for design, mold development, testing and production, so we'd have to ask for patience, but the end product would be totally worth it.

People around here sell them with BFG KO2's or Falken Wildpeaks mounted for barely more than that.

Hell, most 285/70R17's are not technically supposed to be run on a 7" wheel. That was why I went with the 4Runner TRD Offroad wheels on my Lexus GX instead of the TRD Pro's.

Good choice. Your TRD Offroad / Trail Edition wheels are 7.5" wide, so they work just fine with 285/70R17's.

You're correct about 285/70R17 and 7" rim widths as well. In fact I don't believe that any 285/70R17's are approved for use with 7" rim widths. That was the impetus for us to develop the 17x8" FN FX Pro back in 2014. The 4Runner Pro wheels are too narrow at 7.0" to properly support 285's. Of course many people have installed 285's on the 7" 4Runner Pro wheels anyway, but that leads to premature tire wear at a minimum and tire or wheel failure in the worst case scenario because the tire isn't sitting correctly on the rim and the load isn't being distributed properly.
