Why is it necessary to clear the tank for MPG calcs? Asking for a friend.

It's not. You can calculate from any fill up. I only tested mine for the low fuel light.

We’ve had a few MPG threads over time and in each someone will mention 22 and some mention the 26.4 spec number.
I personally have never got it to Kramer empty but looking at my Fuelly spreadsheet, I have a 24.5 gal fillup. I’ll believe the 26.4 spec number when someone posts they emptied the tank and then filled it up. Until then, I’ll continue filling up when it gets to 1/4 left just because.

Try RV/boat water line antifreeze. Was $1/gallon forever. Pandemic raised it to $2/gallon. Saw it priced at 6.97/gallon in Walmart last week. WTH?
I gotta figure out how to cash in on all this inflation. At least used truck prices are starting to cool slightly.

Get me some close-ups of the cambium (outer layer) damage running up the right trunk and that hole up in the front left trunk where it looks almost like someone didn't prune to the collar proper.

It almost looks like an OLD lighting strike... but I'm asking a co-worker who was in forestry for 15yrs, if he doesn't know I also have access to 3 certified arborists ;)

I know I'm a bit late to the party...

But there's been multiple times I've put 25.8, 25.9, or even 26.0 gallons in my truck. One time 26.1! I used to get paid every three weeks, and since I worked part-time during the school year, I'd need to make that tank of gas last three weeks, and sometimes it was a serious stretch. I used to think "the light just came on, so I can go probably another 40ish miles". Thankfully I don't have to do that anymore...

Did it lead to excessive pump heat and wear? Not sure. I guess it could've... I wasn't aware that the pump was cooled by the fuel at the time. I guess we'll see how much longer it lasts.

It's not inflation. Just greed. Corporations raised prices, and cannot lower them without cutting the ridiculous returns shareholders expect. So prices won't get lowered, and when we cannot raise them, we'll keep cutting staff, so service will keep going down. But apparently this is ok now, normal.

If anyone wants to ping me with some other good FAQ-ish questions about steering wheel controls so I can slap those into this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-steering-wheel-radio-phone-controls-info-dump-thread.131492/

Please feel free to post em out here, PM me, or whatever. I think that thing covers most of the bases right now, although I'm planning to update it again when I finally score some green-backlit right-hand controls out of a Sienna or something so people can see how to disassemble/reassemble the controls if they need different colors.

Shifty do we know of any models that have the volume and track buttons on the right hand side? I've gotten used to having those on the right hand side after driving my Ferd for several years.

That's screwing me up right now also, new Highlander has track up/down on right hand side.

I'm not aware of any with our wheel configuration where track up/down is on the right. All the vehicles that share steering wheels with our Tundras are listed in reply #4 of that thread.

Decided it'd pull the ol shitbox camry out and wash it to prepare for winter time. It sits about 6-8 months of the year and hasn't given me any troubles in the past.

Turning left and right is giving a pretty rough sounding pop noise. Was going to drive it but decided against it. Not sure if something has formed some surface rust or what. I noticed some of the grease from the ball joints leaked out while it had been sitting so I'm hoping that has something to do with it. They have grease zerks so next week I'm hoping to get it lined out and ready for winter.

I've definitely accumulated enough things with engines, always something to work on whether you want to or not.

Nothing wild to report on the Tundra, use it to haul stuff here and there. Still treating me well, like any Toyota should.
