Hey guys, just wanted to share with you all the next phase of my build, the Super Pacific canopy camper! The guys over at Mountain Yotas got this all installed and hooked up for me a couple days ago and so far I have been blown away at how nice this thing is. The sleeping loft is huge with a 20" molle panel passthrough so you can go down into your bed without disrupting the sleeping space. The canvas of the tent is made with marine grade fabric and I'm sure will keep us nice and warm and withstand any abuse we throw at it, plus it features 270 degrees of views. It comes with an Exped Mattress that is very comfortable as well.

Underneath the sleeping area is a completely modular design to really tailor your canopy to your needs and uses. So far I just have their gear loft bag that mounts to the top of the sleeping area to store your gear while sleeping but I plan to add some gear bags to the side doors and potentially some interior molle panels for more storage solutions. One of my favorite features of the Super Pacific is the removable sliding glass window on the cab side to have access to our dogs while they're in the bed and provide added airflow to keep them cool.

Definitely on the more expensive end of canopy campers, but after having my hands on one of these, it is drastically better built than other similar options on the market and 100% worth the money. Bonus, the entire thing only weighs about 370 lbs on a full size truck. Feel free to ask if you have any questions and I'll answer them to the best of my ability and provide pictures where I can. For now, enjoy the pics we've taken with it!

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
You know it's expensive when the price isn't even listed in the paid review.

    $13K+ on their website.

Not a paid review, just using some of my social media reach to get some incentive out there for everyone else.
The pups love the extra room!
I guess time will tell. I looked it over pretty good yesterday and all the seams look very tight. I don’t think we’ll have any issues staying dry. As far as the price, plenty of people get GFC’s, for a couple thousand more you can get a massively more improved canopy camper.
You’d think it would weigh more by just looking at it but it’s surprisingly light! Thank you, they’re some good boys but man can they be psychos lol.

Not sure how to describe it better than they think they are people. The one on the right for sure. Very prescient.

    Too many mods to come
I don't know about massively improved. But I do know a GFC is Baja proven under very hard use. Not saying that the SP wouldn't be but like all things personal preference. Does look sweet

Fair point. Super Pacific is still a fairly new company to the market though and I’m sure we’ll see how durable and proven they are as time goes on. I will say, some of the improvements likely come from what GFC skips out on to save a few extra pounds. For one, the side access panels on the GFC have to have cross bars to keep it rigid while the SP has a clear opening making it easier to get gear in and out.
    IMG_3518.jpg IMG_3519.jpg

Also, things like the hidden wire chases and all the mounting points for bags and molle panels bring the utility of the Super Pacific to a whole different level. I’m sure time will tell with this, but so far the things that GFC doesn’t utilize to save some weight make it feel less rugged and sturdy than the SP.

The GFC has all the cross bracing for increased strength and rigidity. It’s designed to handle baja running on long travel and trophy trucks, and the reduced weight is part of being durable as there’s less mass being tossed around.

Super Pacific campers look like top notch quality, too, but some of your conclusions about GFC are simply conjecture.

This will seem harsh, but your posts sound like a social media shill that uses affiliate marketing or receives some other form of compensation, even though you stated above that you weren’t paid for the review.

You're correct, I haven't owned a GFC but I've been in and around both the Super Pacific and GFC now. This is purely my opinion with my experiences, but the Super Pacific "feels" better constructed. Not sure how to better explain it than needing to actually experience both. The door panels on the GFC are flimsy in comparison, you need to either exit the vehicle completely or disrupt the sleeping surface to get to and from the bed of the truck to the sleeping area, and the Super Pacific comes ready to customize to your own liking a bit better than the GFC.

Maybe someone who has owned both can certainly chime in with more experience than me. I'm just trying to show this community some other options since GFC marketing team has essentially the entire market on lock down lol.

How dark is it in the tent when it's light outside? My biggest sticking point about the gfc is how much sunlight comes through the roof and tent fabric

Virtually none, which was quite suprising. At highway speeds I can kind of feel an added resistance, but frankly I was expecting worse.
I got a gear bag that mounts to the top of the inside of the sleeping area. Next I'd like to get some gear bags for the inside of the side access panels. Kind of a his and hers setup for our snowboarding stuff for this winter.

A bit of sunlight comes through the top of the tent, but not a horrible amount. I just got the roof wrapped in a darker color yesterday so I can report back with how the light is now but I expect it to be almost non existent. As far as the tent material, I've had the windows open when I've used it, but next week let me open it up and get some pics for ya with everything closed!

SP seems built better than GFC but i heard those SP clamps that hold on to the truck bed tends to loose their grip easily than the GFC's.
BTW great looking rig you got there.

    Nice looking setup.

How do you prevent dust from accumulating in the bed? My Gen 3, with a tonneau cover, is horrible about collecting dust, even with a tailgate gasket kit installed.

I've had no issues with the clamps so far. I will mention, over the last few months I believe SP switched over to different clamps. These new ones are very solid. Thanks for the kind words!
Switching from my old cover to this setup has actually dramatically decreased the amount of dust getting into the bed. I still need a tailgate gasket kit though to completely eliminate dust.

Don't expect the tailgate gasket kit to completely eliminate dust. I've tried 2 different kits. They cut down on the dust *maybe* 10-20%, but that's it.

My tonneau cover seals very well around the top of the bed, so all the dust is coming from the tailgate gaps. Pea-sized or smaller gravel even accumulates in the bed. I don't understand why truck manufactures won't design a tailgate that actually keeps the crap out.

The SuperPacific guys wanted to charge me $50/day to hang on to it after it was built unless I drove to Portland from CO in the middle of winter to pick it up. Their lead time took longer than expected on the 1st gen prototype so it ended up being deep winter. I told them yeah that's not happening, give me a refund. Ultimately I lost out on my $500 deposit but convinced them to send me a check for the rest.

$50/day you're out of your mind.
