    Hello Everyone,

Looking for some advice/guidance here. I bought a new 17 Tundra Crewmax XS-P package and wanted to do a leveling kit. Upon looking up on various sites apparently this package isn't compatible with some of the products out there. My questions are the following:

    1. Difference between just a spacer at the front vs shocks?
    2. What amount is needed to be level?
    3. Do the shocks made the ride different?

    Any help is much appreciated!

    1. With just a spacer you are losing wheel travel and the ride quality goes down
    2. 2" in the front would be perfectly level
    3. The ride will only get better with aftermarket shocks

For just leveling purposes I would go with Bilstein 5100 shocks over a spacer lift.

Thank you so much for the super quick responses. As far as the XSP I assume any of these shocks would work well, if I wanted to match the front and back suspension I assume just getting 2 sets of the 5100 would work? Forgive my ignorance it's my first truck and dealing with lifting. Only worked on tiny cars!

the best bang for your buck is the 5100's. here is my truck with the 5100's on the middle setting. it leaves a slight rake. if you went with the top setting, you would be slightly nose high.

BTW, the XS-P package is just an appearance package. your truck should be compatible with all lifts/kits designed for a tundra.

If I wanted to go a little higher than this maybe 1-2" what shocks would work best?

the 5100's can be set at 0.87", 1.57", or 2.28". if you start going above 2.5-3.0" of lift, then you may need aftermarket upper control arms to get a good alignment. also, if you go above 2" of lift, I would also recommend lifting the rear about an inch.

checkout toytec, they have a bunch of lift options:

    Hey @bryanpwatson !
    Welcome to the forum!!

So 2'' is right around perfect to level off the Tundra's nice and equal.

If you are wanting to go higher all around then I would recommend a 3'' in the front and a 1'' in the back for that lifted and level stance.
As @Netmonkey mentioned anything up to the 3'' mark is a higher recommendation for aftermarket UCA's to help insure your alignment is properly within spec. We do offer great a ton of different options that may fit your needs, shoot me a message anytime and we can chat about some options!

Awesome, yeah I don't want to complicate things and need new control arms. So maybe doing the 3" and 1" option isn't a bad idea.

    Nice truck Bryan!

I would go the 3/1. I have the Toytec Boss setup and rides great.

Before I bit the bullet on the BOSS setup, I had a spacer lift (same height) and ride was definitely worse than stock. Ride is night and day now with the upgraded coilovers.

I don't need UCA's, but am going to get some regardless for more wheel travel.

Good luck with your choice buddy!

I agree. I did the 5100s in the top setting and it sometimes appears to be nose high. It's not bad but if I was doing it again I would do the middle setting.
