My 2022 which I ended up getting in Jan of 2023 was MSRP, which was fine because I think they overpaid $5000 on my trade. To be honest if they dropped my trade $5000 There was no way I was leaving that dealer with out that truck.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I have a 2020 so it would not be comparable to today, but my method got me the best price I think I could have found without an insider discount of some type. I wrote a spec sheet that listed my requirements and emailed it to the internet sales person for every dealership I was willing to drive to. I ended up paying less than many dealers pay, about $10k under MSRP. A local dealership (that came in 2nd) told me they could not even buy the truck for what I paid for it.

I paid MSRP on a '24 1794 the beginning of last month. About $73ishK. But I had to have a 6.5' bed and wanted TRD, tow mirrors, spray in liner, gate step and HUD. This truck had all the options I wanted (and about $500 of stuff I didn't particularly want) as well as being painted in Smoked Mesquite (I like browns and greens - my '08 was Timberline Mica). Dealer "forgot" and charged $399 for mud flaps (part of 1794 trim) and floor mats (didn't provide any but OEM) - it took weeks to get the money back but no other "add ons". Ohio has that disgusting $250 "document fee" which will never change as long as the dealers keep donating to the right people. There's at least $249 profit there for them.

The HUD (really wanted after having in my S class and wife's A6) and 6.5' bed with TRD made it a tough combo to find, at least for me.
First time I've paid MSRP for a vehicle (except the 911 I ordered during COVID but they gave me MSRP on trade for my 2.5 year old 911 with 7500 miles on it) since the internet became a thing.

Really like it overall so far. A few nits to pick but very happy with it. It's plenty fast for me and very comfy. 16 mpg isn't great but love the 32 gallon gas tank. Winter tires/wheels go on next cold front.

Bought 2 weeks ago, end of OCT, new 24’s starting to show on lots. 2023 Limited crew max, short bed TRD OR with a few other options, sticker MSRP was 63k, advertised and paid 58k, which i think is close to invoice (about 4k is common spread for limited’s from what I can tell). Wanted to swap wheels and barter around a little, but they were volume dealer in WA and wanted to just sell the car with factory specs. Auto trader had it listed since august with price dropping, so im guessing they just wanted it off the lot.
Really wanted an SR5 crewmax shortbed with TRD off-road package. I looked all over the PNW, and several dealers looking as well. Doesnt seem to be a combination that is sold around here. Ended up stepping up to limited, which is where the TRD off-road packages seem to start

    List price - 54,139.

Sell price in midwest was - 50,949

    24 sr5 4x4 crewmax

Toyota financing would have given an extra 1,000 off but passed.

Maybe you guys getting 5k to 9k off should put your salepersons name and dealer in here. Because I have noticed over the last two years dealers around me are asking 5k to 15k over sticker OTD. And they ask me if I want to test drive one and I say only it your not asking over the sticker price and they walk away laughing

Only options are power kit ie in bed lights, wireless charger, and heating steering wheel. Sticker was 55k got 1500.00 off deal was done December of 2022.

The funny thing about it is I inquired when it hit there lot early December (local dealer and when your current car was a 2008 Ford E250 van with a rotten floor you might dream a little lol) it wasn't available and about a week later they called and said they it just came in lol.

They started at sticker plus 1k for starguard some sort of low jack equivalent got them to the final number over 48 hours.

I love the truck no issues in 11 months and 8k miles.

Thanks again for all the replies and detail. Please keep'em coming.

We decided to move forward on a 2024 TRD Pro last Friday. Ice Cap/Cockpit Red. Spray in bed liner was the only add on. The truck was listed as in production, with a scheduled delivery for the end of November. I called the dealership and they said they do not discuss price or negotiation unless you are actually in their store. This practice may be normal for many, but seems very old school (in a bad way) to me. They also don't list any pricing on their website, which led me to believe (naively) that they were open to negotiation. I drove over an hour to a dealership in Orlando. It took about 30-45 minutes of preliminary small talk to finally get the out the door price. MSRP was approximately $74,624. Plus a $10,000 "market demand" charge. Total out the door price...over $93,000. We calmly discussed changing market conditions for about another 15-20 minutes, but they wouldn't budge a penny. No, I am not waiting for the delivery of my new TRD Pro from that dealership.

Moving forward, if a dealership isn't willing to talk to me about the out the door price over the phone, or at least have a specific advertised price, there's no reason for me to visit the store.

I'm ready to pay x, relative to MSRP. But I'm not ready to pay an out the door price of aprox $20k over MSRP. As I told the sales manager, I want one, but I don't want one that bad. :)

I'll keep looking and let y'all know if I make any progress.

    Thanks again!

Good for you. I would never pay over MSRP. Even at MSRP I am sure everyone is doing very well. Unfortunately there will be the next guy coming in after you that has more $ than brains.

I just got a 2023 Platinum last week for almost $7,600 under MSRP. I originally had one on order back in spring of 2022 but had to pull my deposit due to an unexpected home expense. Would not have gotten anything below msrp at that time. Glad I waited.

Down here in SET land you cannot configure TRD-OR with HUD. Drives me crazy.

I dunno what you plan on spending but if you know what you want then build it on Toyo's site print it out and go to the dealer and hand it to em,I'm telling ya there is zero bullshit all they have to do is put it in allocation, your going to get a ok or a no.
You obviously are doing the right thing by asking us and doing your leg work on this, so don't settle for less and pay more than necessary and put the sales guy on vacation with your money.

Hopefully you can put this to bed and get what you want. Good hunting Man, & glad you stuck to your guns at that Stealership.

Most people don’t follow these simple rules of life. Getting caught up in car debt is always a choice and never a good thing. Tying up 60,000 on a truck leaves an approximate $1200 payment financed over 60 months. Car payments should not exceed 10-15% of monthly take home pay, or about $150,000/year as you said. The exception is when the truck is your money maker.

    Pretty sound reasoning.

Paid about 57k for mine. Paid cash. Best money decision I ever made? No. However getting a couple thousand off msrp and not paying any interest since I paid cash....I should be much better off than most if I decide to sell 5-7 years down the road.
