I'd rather the state confiscate the vehicles until a $7500 fine is paid by their insurance company. The current fine is less than $200 out of pocket and a have a nice day.

The fine should be extremely high.

Could be a good time to start a recovery insurance business.

See what I mean? That's a joke. Practically encouraging them. So, how can any of the agencies complain about an increase in ass clowns?
I think they should take it a step further. Just not even let anyone on these extreme trails with motorized vehicles at all. Unless....
There should be designated trails for vehicle recreation. It should be for certified vehicles and drivers only and if you want to build a rig and drive these trails, you have to join one of these groups and pay for membership and training. And they have to be insured.
I know, I know, sounds like restricting "freedom". But look how things go when you let any retard do whatever they want. They ruin shit for everyone else and cost everyone else money.

It is sad that the late comers to the outdoor adventure scene are tearing shit up, doing things they are not supposed to do and we go in and basically clean up after them because we all live by the "Leave it better than you found it" rule. I volunteer to help the Forest Rangers and listening to what they want to do is killing all of us. The volunteers are literally going out every week and weekend volunteering their time (enormous amount of gas alone) to go out where the Forest Service folks are not allowed to go because they do not have the appropriate vehicles. When we have events where we take them out to show them things they are looking at on Google Earth it is shocking to them what they actually see.

If things are not under control soon all trails are going to be closed, then when Hamas pops up where are we all going to go?

Nice location. Montrose has some quite decent Mexican restaurants. Haven't been there in years though.

Pretty much, but not into recoveries per se. Stay the Trail is all about common sense use of the trails open to us here in CO among other things.

The only problem w/this is that EVERYONE's insurance will go up if they are a 4x4 owner....

We are meeting up with a few realtors during the weeks we are there and looking at around 8-10 properties. The area of Norwood is where I believe we will reside as of now but that could change. We will see when we get up there. We are taking the 4Runner and heading up with our 2 dogs and will be there from Dec 22-30. Our first Christmas away from home and in Colorado

Have a great time and be safe.

Many thanks for sure. I yanked out everything in the back of the truck so no real safe place for the dogs so we figured the 4Runner will do just fine up and back. No real trails are open but plenty of places to visit. I am sure that many properties will keep us busy investigating and exploring around each.

Happy Holidays to you and yours my friend!

Well we have an agreement on the contract offer we put in for property in Montrose. It is the city of Montrose and country of Ouray up at 5900 ft. Going to be a long road but we need to start building ASAP so we can get there ASAP. We got 41.62 acres up in a nook of 6 lot properties with one road in. Ours is the second to the last on the road up on a ridge of the Horsefly Canyon. Emotions are everywhere right now just thinking about everything we need to do. All I see is $$$ :spending:

I've subscribed to Casey LaDelle's YT channel just to watch these crazy recoveries. Horrible weather, snow up to your knees or more, and nighttime to boot, he's done it all. He operates Cascade Heavy Rescue in WA State. Sometimes he charges and sometimes not.

He's really good about posting recovery techniques and gear he likes to use.

In either case, there'll always be ass clowns so the need for knowledgeable recovery folks is never going away.
