    Hey all,

Wondering if anyone has done the rear diff breather mod for their 1st gen? very popular on the taco world, I had done it on my previous taco.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-diff-vent-behind-the-tail-light-mod.286097/

I checked that " union" part # 90404-51319 and it doesnt list a first gen tundra as a fitment. Im guessing different size? I could get it anyways and try but... wondering if anyone has done this with a different part, and what the correct part would be?

Lots of people have done it. It can be bought as a premade kit, I believe at the www.firstgentundra.com site?

Are you planning on driving the truck basically bed-deep in the water regularly? Or salt/corrosion is a concern?

I also grabbed the breather valve, some longer hose, and a filter to do the mod. Did it on my Frontier for the short time I had it. Ran the hose to the passenger tail light cavity. I'll get around to installing on ye Olden Tundra eventually.

I also just ordered that thread in nipple. I figure that since my bed is currently removed from my truck, there’s no easier time to install it.

Please link to this thread also once you have it installed. I'm sure you'll already include it in your build thread.

As long as i can remember to do so!

Trail Gear also sells an accordion boot style vent cover. I don’t know how popular they are with guys using their trucks as a daily driver though. I installed one of them on my linked YJ about a year ago. No telling how well it works since i’ve only have put about 10 miles on it.
