I have the original factory arm rest wireless charger and still works good on phones that sit flat. I’ve had the iPhone 14pro max since it came out and the with the cameras sticking out more then the previous models, it seems to slide around more and not get a good grip on the rubber mat. Constantly goes red light meaning not getting good contact to charge. I see this new model with a raise MagSafe in the middle and wondering if anyone has tried this out? I was planning on dying one with an Apple MagSafe charger ($40) an anker 20W car adapter ($25) and most likely an extension cable to run to arm rest (another $10-$20), this seems to be around what I would be spending and avoid the hassle of “building” this. Let me know if anyone is using one of these or what are you using with these newer model iPhones.

The idea looks good just wonder about the quality. Recently took my oem wireless charger out as it was pretty much useless after upgrading my iPhone

I’m on the verge of removing as like you mentioned it’s useless with the upgraded phones. I might be the guinea pig here and give this a shot.

I just ordered it; been tired of my oem charger going red all the time. Will give this a shot and see if it works. Thanks for the heads up

I have a iPhone mount made by Hondo Garage and plug my phone in directly. It’s mounted high so you can see it while driving.

Mine was delivered today; will have it installed over the weekend (if not this evening if I can get home in time....) and report back. Again, nit optimistic but can't be worse than the oem console chargers performance

Got it installed and it works. I like the fact that this one has a stronger magnet. You can open the console lid and it will stay put. I started the truck and let it run for ten minutes and it didn’t turn red so that was a positive. Not sure how fast it will charge but will keep you posted.

If anyone wants the oem wireless charger I will be putting it on for sale in the flea market.

The official Apple MagSafe charger won’t work on standard USB power. The aftermarket ones will be lower power output (typically limited to 10W).

    This is what I did.

I know a guy that’s thinking of offering to make/sell the parts needed (minus the Scosche kit itself)…

I need the answer to this.
I like there seem to be no lights on it..

I installed the OEM charger in my 2014.
It charged my iPhone X, but it got so hot the phone wouldn't work until it cooled off.

I got my iPhone 15 Pro today, I tried it on the console charger and it charged.
Didn't leave it on long enough to see if it got hot.
With a case, the 15 pro does lay flat.

But I like the idea of staying in one place.
I can't tell you how many times I opened the console forgetting my phone (and wallet) were sitting on it..:eek2::oops:o_O

There goes my phone into the back seat..

Ok so drove my daughter back; kept the phone on the charger the entire time. Took about an hour. Running Waze and Spotify. Phone was warm ( or nearly as hot as it got on oem one). And I increased battery by 16%

So you would say charging speeds and temperature are similar to the oem?

I might need to check that out.
I'll see how it goes with the 15 Pro, maybe it won't get as hot.
But iPhone X on the OEM charger would get so hot it was like leaving it on the dash in the sun.
I had to hold it in front of the AC vent to cool the phone down jut to use it...:eek2:

And not having a light on it would be awesome, I turn it off at night when I don't have a phone on it.
There are no lights on the aftermarket unit, correct?
You can tell it's charging by the phone?

I would say that charging speed is similar but everything else is better. Difference is that it at least stays charging instead of turning red. The temp was MUCH lower comparatively

Folks - unless the charger is Apple-certified/licensed (highly unlikely), it will not charge faster than the maximum 7W speed. Android devices will charge up to 15W if the charger claims 15W support. Last I checked, there were few companies making Apple-certified chargers, and none are custom vehicle chargers like this. Anker and a few others make wall and other chargers that can reach the 15W Apple reserves for charging devices it has certified.

At 7W, it charges decent but not at all “fast” and certainly not to the 15W most of these companies claim to support. THey get away with it because they DO support 15W, but they conveniently don’t disclose they can only do so with Android.

Here is what I did... I didn't want to worry about the phone flying out of console when I forget it's there. Also, when i use Waze or maps I can glance pretty easy where it's located (very rare when I use maps or waze).
